Thread regarding CenturyLink layoffs

PA NJ

Colleague informed me they intend to dismiss the existing NJ and PA consumer market technicians, and those functions will be performed by national technicians existing in those markets.

Ops call, a local tech asks if they will still be working directly on fiber work within central office environments out to the prem. Official response was " it depends on how the service is placed. Any type of current ethernet product that is in Mass Markets will stay with mass markets. As we evolve some of the markets to Ethernet 2.0 that will be a combination of local and national techs." - Bill Wise manager of regional operations

CenturyStink ! LuMen Stink ! National techs Can not take over everything there are not enough of them but where they have done cuts like in San Antonio and the surrounding towns the National techs were given no choice, no training , just go figure it out , the ones who have been around since western union had no problems figuring it out and then retired ..SEE YA !

Until I can see proof, seems like someone stirring the pot. First I’ve heard of this.

Glad to see it. I'm tired of the union anchor around this company's neck.

i don't see how this works unless consumer is doing only enterprise/big data/sled type work in pa/nj and they're significantly outnumbered by national techs. other wise this is just more nonsense

Are national techs taking over consumer marketing in rural or metro areas? Please provide an example where this is happening.

Is the IBEW going to try to fight this? If it starts there it will happen to every IBEW State.

Another tactic to improve the customer experience I see! They are like a fish out of the water! Wish I was around to watch em all flop around and struggle to stay alive! That would be priceless! Stay classy Centurystink!
