I’m on a pip. Completely unfair. All the BDCs and ODs fake calls all day and skate by. Should I leave Oracle on my own or get fired? I should probably start looking at companies that actually invest in their employees.

How's the PIP?
It you’re on a PIP they want you gone and you should find something else. I have to say I am surprised that there are pips in OD at all, that group never produces anything anyway!
"Class of" is a failed experiment and should have been buried with Mark Hurd
Find a job while you are employed!
PIPs. If you have regular 1-1 meetings with your mgr, that should never, ever happen. It’s a sign that employee/management engagement is broken or at least damaged. If it gets to the point of a PiP, it’s a management failure. A good manager will alert you right away at the slightest hint of any issue with your work.
I couldn't agree more. Any issues or potential issues should be addressed immediately, they should never get to that point of failure. And if you don't have regular 1:1 meetings with your manager, ask yourself why.
What do you do?
If you're placed on PIP/Probation, regardless of where you work, you need to find a new job ASAP.
Sure, some people claw their way out of PIP, but even if you do, you are now damaged goods. Time to move on.

PIPs are mostly made up BS, like annual reviews, NDAs to prevent you from working for another company in your industry and anti-WFH policies (as this year has proven).
I agree with you. My time with Oracle was largely positive. It is all dependent on the group you are in. Despite the lack of raises and the nickel and diming Bravo-Sierra, I was lucky and worked in a great org with outstanding people, including my manager. We all got hit at the same time and I was sad not just because I lot my job but also because I wouldn't be working with these great people. I also know that some orgs are so toxic they make Love Canal look like a "little spill". I suggest you ask around and find out who is happy and productive and who is counting the day to be RIFd or retire. I'm 3 years out so things probably have changed, but that was my experience.
To give you an actual answer- I'm in OD and understand your frustration OP.
I've seen far many quality reps I was hired in the Class Of program either leave or get forced out due to the insane stress that our role's unrealistic expectations places on us.
To give some realistic advice you have two options:
- Grind your a– off trying to hit whatever metrics you have, and especially if you're BD or overlay, try to put whatever b—s— you can in the pipeline. A lot of people lie about their metrics and it's uncomfortable to steep that low but a job is a job.
If you're able to get off the pip, which is possible, then try to immediately leave the role whether that be a lateral move or a promotion if possible. PIPs are largely discretionary so it's clear you don't have the best relationship with your manager or GSD.
- Likely the more realistic option is to leave. PIPs are largely in place as scare tactics to get you to leave voluntary rather than you quit and being given severance. If you're not hitting your metrics now (for whatever reason) it is unlikely you will hit the pip. I'd recommend using this time to look for other jobs / roles.
A friend of mine in BD was put on a pip right before covid hit. It took four months for her to find a job and it actually lined up almost perfectly with her deadline. She took my advice and actually waited to get fired so she could collect a few extra grand in severance.
Whatever happens start applying NOW. I'd also recommend having a candid conversation with your leadership about transferring to another department. Maybe sales isn't for you but ops, finance, or marketing could be. Unlike what most people say on this site, Oracle is not the worst devil ever.
Best of luck with everything. If you're BD/OD then you're likely 22-25 so too young for this to matter in the grand scheme.

What is PIP?
Performance Improvement Plan. It's Corporate America speak for being placed on probation. You are being told that you will be fired in a few months, so go find a new job ASAP.
All OD reps are, by definition, l.o.s.e.r.s. If they weren’t l.o.s.e.r.s they wouldn’t be OD reps. Simple as that.
Oh yeah, all hardware and most oracle tech reps are l.o.s.e.r.s too. Same logic applies.
Glad to hear that you have come to your senses. Good luck in your new ventures.
You've answered your own question.
Leave asap. Consider it a blessing in disguise. Life after Oracle is much better than you could possibly imagine.
