Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Bye Bob.

"Intel is looking for a new CEO. There are multiple candidates, one has been shot down, 3 potential left. They are hoping to make the decision in Q1, probably after the Jan call. Does seem like Bob's going either way. “

Lots more gems in that article above. 7nm is more delayed than people thought (shocker), etc.

Maybe Intel is hiring that SMIC CEO who just rage quit today because SMIC just poached another former TSMC exec. He leaked TSMC secrets to Samsung and enabled them to get up to speed on 14nm some years ago.

Only people I'd trust are Jim Keller and Pat Gelsinger.

But who are we kidding, it'll be a URM so that we can virtue signal harder than ever. Third CEO in a row that watches the company burn, clueless about how to put out the fire.

I'm betting Navin.

I shiver at the thought of having Navin as CEO. But this board could pull something worse than what we have.

Yes. Because what Intel needs is another reject from Qualcomm. George Davis, Murthy, Daaman, Messay, Cormac, and on and on. Maybe Murthy can rename himself Smurthy and reapply.

Given the Board's ineptitude at finding a suitable CEO last time watch them give the CEO job to Navin or some other person they passed over initially for Bob. Only damaged goods would take this job at this point. GG Lisa, Jensen, Morris

The SMIC CEO suggestion was obviously a joke. Intel would probably rather hire a URM CEO to appear more woke.

BS was last man standing two years ago in the CEO search. The search committee looked and looked and looked but anyone really qualified was too smart to let ego overrule the story. Those greedy amd power hungry enough were damaged / poisoned goods so they went with a bean counter with no technology background or vision supervised by a board with NOBODY with any semiconductor or IC insight.

Think about it, you got a semiconductor IDM and CPU company who missed the inflection point and who’s manufacturing and silicon RD went from leadership to third even with spending billions more than all their competitors combined and yet FUBAR.

The shambles and failures of the organization are well known as so many were laid off or left. Those left couldn’t get off the ship or so blinded by dogmatic beliefs to be able to pivot.

Now they look for a savior, sorry could IBM, Kodak, GE, Boeing or other Icons be rescued after such a long and spectacular faceplant? The only question for Intel, goes the route of Kodak and Blackberry or IBM and HP.

Isn't SMIC blacklisted by the US government? Hiring someone from there won't look good. Could this be the prequal to........"The Return of Murthy"

That SMIC CEO who quit was personally leading their 7nm efforts, which was supposedly on track for production next April. If SMIC gets to 7nm before Intel that's akin to p*ssing on Intel's grave after it just got buried by TSMC, Apple, Samsung, Nvidia, AMD.
