Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Was there official communication of salary freezes?

I heard there was salary freezes but was there official communication? Based on the total remuneration concept it is supposed to be independent of market conditions. However, seeing everything that has happened this year I’m assuming that doesn’t apply now.

Most of you will drop down a full quintile in ranking with bottom quintile removed from ranking after PIP and Layoff. Upstream salaries in competitive survey is overpaid by 20%. Combination of lower market rates in Upstream plus lower ranking means SALARY TRANSITION....essentially no pay raises for Years...This happened in the past and it lasted a long time. 3 or 4 years for many people until inflation fixes the problem or oil price spike causes major attrition like in 2006.

The only salary increase is that of DW and his visionary management committee. He’s still underpaid.

Reading all these comments about people saying raises will be back in a year or three and laughing. Read the company plan. Where do you see raises coming back in that time frame? Dream on

F&L will have more layoffs as they re-org/offshore. Salary freezes are understood by all supervisors/managers since they didnt have to even do salary planning this year!

Doing to be a rough 2-3 years. Keep holding your cash flow and increase your 401k to close the gap in the 7% match (it might not come back until 2023, and wont be 7%, im told).

I got a CL raise this year and also a layoff notice. 2020 is a beautiful yet funny rollercoaster!

Those saying raises will be back in a year are wrong. Even in very minor 2014/15 downturn many went 2-3 years with no raise. When raises restarted I know some who were insulted to receive a couple hundred dollar increase to their annual salary. Took years for people to get back to pre downturn salary considering the impact of inflation. This downturn is much worse.

Beware a CL increase if it puts you in a new tank group. Typical for ranking to drop when you move to a new group. I’ve seen many fired due to poor timing of CL increase.

You will only get a raise if your CL changes. Raises and 401k will be back in 2022. Spend wisely

I got a small salary raise but that was probably because I got a CL bump this year.

There is a Q&A response for the involuntary program that mentions the 2021 salary freeze.

Involuntary redundancy program is over. Company will continue MLRP program. It has been announced in nearly every Executive Townhall that salaries are frozen for 2021.

I was told during my layoff 1:1 (high level project executive) that there would be no increases in 2021 and potentially more layoffs next year. Just mentioning what I was told, nothing official.
