Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Wake up

if you need a job at any company (paycheck) more than they need you, then you better wake up. Get your finances in order, save cash and diversify your investments. If you have any debt, get it paid off ASAP. This applies to agency, PS, direct, etc. live below your means and you will never be caught off guard by a firing.

The 1980's have called to say that this has been the norm for nearly forty straight years. All of us are entirely disposable and will be happily removed just as soon as you're no longer seen as the most profitable cog. On the lowest end it's true when they find someone fool who'll work harder for minimum wage and an the highest end CEO's will get bounced when the investors believe someone else can better bump up the stock prices in the next quarter.

@6mvn+18kTLfAE I believe what you say.

There were some pretty high up LL who got their lease cars impounded. One of them arrived to a mid morning meeting without laces in his shoes. The story came out later that the jail removed shoe laces to prevent people from harming themselves. He had been arrested for DWI and lease car impounded.

Another had his lease car impounded multiple times for picking up women of the night.

It is very difficult to enforce rules to LL6 when higher ups exhibit the same behaviors.

There was one LL6 that drove drunk daily. One day he took his lease car to WHQ garage for service and the garage attendant called HR and reported that he was drunk. The attendant refused to give the LL6 his car keys. HR involved the LL5 and LL4. The LL4 retrieved the car keys and gave them to the LL6 who “worked” two more hours and then drove to the bar. Nothing happened to the LL6. He was still drunk every day at work pre-COVID. He is likely still drunk every day “working” from home.
He was golfing and drinking buddies with the LL4.

I get that addiction is a disease. But the company didn’t even care enough about these people to get them help. Or at the very least install breathalyzers in their lease cars to protect the community from serial drunk drivers. That is the sad part.

56% of American workers over the age of 50 have been laid off at least once after age 50.
It is not a matter of if, but when it will happen to you.

well this person has a point. given we are in a time where an employer will let you go like right now just to save a few pennies. and yet you see people k–l themselves thinking it will not happen to them. yes as long as you work there you put in an honest days work.. but beyond that be careful. An always be realistic about this industry and especially this company. we are all expendable assets to them. They are the team.. we are just equipment to them. a write off at any given time..

"Management lease cars would get impounded for being involved in illicit activities, impaired driver"

Ford will look into driving records when someone wrecks several vehicles over a few years time. They may also designate omitted drivers if the kids wreck these cars.
Otherwise the tracking is very loose as you noticed. It might also have something to do with, believe it or not, having to apply the rules across all management levels.
As a manger once said when addressing the topic of impaired driving: It's something that's been done at all levels of the company.

Who runs the board? First, someone copied my comment from another post and made it a new post here. Word for word. Then I call that out (as a comment here), and that comment gets deleted. Wow.

Dream on about the arrogant boss getting walked out
He is likely protected by the arrogant boss above him.
And on up the chain.

Examples
Management lease cars would get impounded for being involved in illicit activities, impaired driver or driver “picking up an additional passenger”. Since the company owns the vehicles they would have to go and retrieve the vehicles. Nothing happened to these managers, and many were repeat offenders.
All swept under the rug.
Managers routinely being under the influence on the job, even when caught red handed by HR, nothing happened.
Managers harassing employees, again nothing happened.

Working from home shields many from the behaviors of management.

I have done just that, and it sure feels great. My house and cars are paid for, I have plenty of money in the bank, and live within my monthly income. My boss, on the other hand, lives in a million dollar mansion with a million dollar mortgage, and is constantly having "stomach troubles." I have to admit I would enjoy seeing his arrogance get walked out the door.
