A serious issue occurred between me and my manager last week. I have tried to talk to him using open communication and feedback - but it hasn’t resolved the issue. In fact, it seems to have made things worse. Obviously the next step would be to take it to HR but to be honest I am afraid of retaliation. Has anyone had any experience taking an issue to HR?

Find a role in another department that doesn't know your manager or leave the company. Go to HR but don’t expect anything to change.
Yes, I tried it. HR’s main job is to protect the “mother ship”. You will go through a BS process but nothing will change. It only highlights you as a “problem”. They are not interested in hearing about any issues that complicate the day to day business of raking in huge profits.
Sorry for this working there myself if your manager decides they don’t like you then it’s all over, they will gaslight and mentally abuse you until you quit. If they start that meat grinder just hold out until you get fired or get a better job somewhere else. This happened to me and many other folks I worked with who are not happy at other companies. Middle management at this company is like cockroaches and will do and say anything to keep control. Sorry again, my last role almost cost me my sanity but alas, I moved to another area. It’s okay but I have PTSD so I’m looking for another job.
BeHeard is a screening filter for employment law to protect company. HR issues occur due to poor leaders who are not held accountable. The source of the problem cannot be addressed by turning a blind eye.
Abuse of authority needs to be addressed. Go to their manager before HR or another trusted one to ask advice
Speak up otherwise their will be more victims
If your boss doesn’t like you your done. I was really well liked in my department and it changed over night when one manager decided they didn’t like me anymore. Honestly they will do anything to get you to quit so DO NOT quit unless you have a better job lined up. Let them fire you if they want so you can collect. You need to move to another department or get another job, sorry.
No, that’s not true. Make your voice heard, but choose your words wisely. Also, pick your battles wisely. Is there something you can do to change the situation? First view the issue before moving forward.
HR is your boss. Your Boss is HR. Unless he hit you or s-xually bother you, you have no case. It is over
