Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

Preach!

For years BN hasn’t cared about the quality of employees. Filling full time positions with part timers to save a buck. The stores suffered for it and the customer took notice. A well run operation became pieced together with minimum wage minimally interested people.

Couldn't have said it better, @1ngs+18cRbQgK.

Just Curious-
Yes. I’ve worked for different companies. The BN culture of Mgrs & DMs is the worst I’ve dealt with.

Why do people keep picking on the regional and store managers like the ones they call witches in New England? Is B&N really that horrible of a place with vindictive people running the company into the ground?

@ugk You are 100% correct. Unfortunately people continue to hang on to bye gone days. The future of retail is online with delivery and smaller pick up stations.

Exactly!
Retail is NOT a career anymore.
BN used to be a prestigious job. Now it’s NO different than Walmart, or McDonalds.

Retail is unskilled labor just like fast food. You pay minimum wage and get what you pay for, part time workers with high turnover. Retail is not a career anymore.
