The only people who have not been notified yet are those on vacation/sick leave? If that's true, I have to admit I'm positively surprised. I was concerned they would really make all of us worry and stress for two full weeks while they slowly notified everybody on the list. Not sure what brought on this change, but I welcome it.

Went out on paternity leave...PIP'd 2 months later without warning. lack of long-term fit, mismatch company values, etc.
It was the same in Clinton and Paulsboro as well: female employee goes out on maternity leave, comes back nine months later with a promotion and a better job

Paternity leave = not protected if male
Maternity leave = protected and was mentioned during corporate plan process (look around on intranet)
Usually after an extended time off on maternity leave if CL24 or higher will return to an equivalent or bump up role. Has been a trend for years. Look at the announcement pages, someone leaves for maternity, 6-12 months later they are back at a higher role.
In Baytown, if you speak up at all and it’s not in line with DH level and up people then you’re branded and will be until that DH is gone.
There’s a few DHs that hold grudges and will constantly influence people’s ranking even if they don’t have direct working relationship with you.
This also works the opposite way, if the DH or above person likes you, that person will be your (sponsor) until they leave the site.
At that point they can’t influence as heavily. Could be months or years just depends.
You hope the higher the person goes in the company, the more unbiased and level headed they become, sadly that is not the case with many.
So keep your heads down while you look around, have a plan B just in case.
I always wonder why being on leave or family situation should be a factor? I can understand delaying telling them if something awful just happened to them but if a person you need to fire is on leave why would you fire someone else instead?
People on maternity and paternity leave were NOT protected. In fact, a married couple who just had a baby and were both on maternity and paternity leave were both let go. Very heartless.
What about short term and long term disability? Are those employees being protected while still in disability?
Several people on parental leave have been let go - there is no protection.
Notifications were done via phone zoom etc
Those on maternity leave are protected.
Working from home doesn’t matter. They’ll zoom with you to lay you off.
What about those working from home this week? Would that cause a delay in notifying the employee they have been selected?

Not always the case but often.
