"In its lawsuit, the Justice Department argues that Facebook's hiring practices made a mockery of these requirements. Most Facebook jobs are advertised online, and job seekers can apply online. By contrast, Facebook overwhelmingly placed its legally mandated ads for PERM jobs in print publications. Candidates were required to submit their applications by mail. "

This has been common knowledge in the tech field for at least 20 years. Their (((lawyers))) specifically advise them to do this. This video is at least 13 years old: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCbFEgFajGU

"Immigration attorneys from Cohen & Grigsby explain how they assist employers in running classified ads with the goal of NOT finding any qualified applicants, and the steps they go through to disqualify even the most qualified Americans in order to secure green cards for H-1b workers."

The H-1B visa program lets foreign workers work at a US company for three years. It can be renewed once. After that, an employer can ask for permission to offer the immigrant a permanent job under the Department of Labor's PERM certification program. But the employer is supposed to first advertise the job to see if any Americans are available. Only if no qualified Americans apply can the job go to the immigrant.

In its lawsuit, the Justice Department argues that Facebook's hiring practices made a mockery of these requirements. Most Facebook jobs are advertised online, and job seekers can apply online. By contrast, Facebook overwhelmingly placed its legally mandated ads for PERM jobs in print publications. Candidates were required to submit their applications by mail.

These jobs had an average salary of more than $156,000. Yet out of 1,128 jobs posted between July 2018 and April 2019, 81 percent didn't receive a single applicant, while another 18 percent received just one applicant.

"If a US worker applied to a PERM-related position and Facebook determined that the US worker was qualified, but there was no non-PERM-related vacancy available for the US worker, Facebook's standard operating procedure was to decline to hire the US worker for the PERM-related position and to temporarily abandon or suspend the PERM process," the Justice Department wrote in its lawsuit.

@OP...you are full of c-ap. If HIB's are so great then why is our quality going down the tubes. Incompetent engineering is why.

H1Bs do the jobs a lot better and cheaper so I don’t blame Ford, that’s pure capitalism folks. If someone else can do the same job at a much lower price, then why would you pay a six figure salary to a lazy American?

I remember sitting in leadership meetings where the leadership was complaining about the German Workers Council and how difficult it was to reduce German white collar work staff compared to American white collar staff ( no union, no workers council so easy peasy to reduce American white collar staff.)
They had plans to aggressively reduce American white collar staff - replacing with Ford of India staff and temporary H1B staff. It has played out that way - the only throttles on the plan have been high staff turn over in Ford of India, poor quality of work output and infrastructure issues.

The short sidedness of the plans was that once the quality issues are resolved the pay gap would also be closed and they would need to find a lower cost country to relocate to. Meanwhile their biggest consumers - Americans - don’t have the income to purchase their products. Penney wise, Pound foolish.

Who cares? Everyone born and bred American should. These companies whine that they can't find American workers to fill essential roles so they hire H1Bs.

The truth is that companies don't want to pay American wages. They can hire 2-3 H1Bs depending on the role or 1 American for the same wages. 1000's of American workers are getting screwed over by the H1B program.

I think the point was that if facebook can get hit for playing H1B games, we might be in the crosshairs too.

Trying to stir up FUD by pointing to an article that has zippo to do with Ford?

Not sure if something was brought to the attention of Farley after VJ was brought back on board, or if something spooked him after he got in the door. Considering that it's unlikely to see something so bad in the first couple of days that it's worth immediately bailing out of a very high paying job without an obvious parachute I don't see that being the case. Only being gone for seven years I can easily believe that there are still people around who know where various skeletons are hidden and motivated to point them out.
