Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

So sad to read

I retired from Exxon over 20 years ago. We had many voluntary programs over the years and most of the employees benefited from the career shift or early retirement. It pains me to read the bitterness and frustration that so many employees are enduring. I was really proud of the company when I left. This situation, which in broad terms was a senior management failure, combined with the poor financial performance has taken was was once one of the worlds greatest organizations down into business as usual. I guess a brutal meritocracy has its limits.

OP do share the details of the voluntary programs you had over the years. Hardly anyone took the voluntary program this time because it wasn't very generous. Most of the people laid off were involuntary lay offs.

Op, I appreciate your views and many years of contributions. Know that many also shake their head at the lack of respect, knowledge and basic human decency that is displayed in almost every post. Be glad you are far removed from the EM of today, and even more so for whatever EM may be in the future. Pegasus died a hard death, and the tiger is about to fall as well.

Hey, you old Sot. It's me - your favorite manager from 30 years ago.
I'm doing great just like you and looking up at these bitter younglings.
So bitter.
Well - best wishes. I'm back to the lava slog now - shoveling as always.

I’m a bit impressed that an 80 year old is so good with technology.

I do think Woods is terrible but he also inherited the mess Rex made. They were both destructive.

@mzs, shut up. And because probably 98% of the company makes 6 figures? My point was not everyone at EM has a privileged life. I've known several who have had to take on 2nd jobs while working there. You know, the ones NOT making 6 figures. We have the same responsibilities in life as everyone else, sometimes even more. Troll.

@wwq curious why you’d be entitled to 6 figures. The time itself is actually a privilege in itself. Also, the salary that you disparage may be enviable to many.

ExxonMobil as of today is an organization full of some of the most incompetent and useless people. Not just at the very top the failure, ignorance, lack of knowledge and incompetency runs from top to the bottom.

My fellow colleagues are bunch of as5 holes submitting safety sharing and collecting fat pay checks while finding opportunity to make extra money through expat assignments and unproductive business travel.

Sick sick sick place to be at

Dear Sir,

Much of the views you read here about ExxonMobil is a tiny number of very bitter people. Do we have some issues, yes. Will we get through them and be better? Yes. I work for this company and love ExxonMobil and God willing, I will retire from here. Don't let the mob here ruin your view of ExxonMobil. This is still a great company.
