Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Majority of layoffs in the morning?

I observed that people in my group that were let go (as well as in the groups of several friends) had their meetings first thing in the morning. There were previous posts on this site that suggested that each group would take a randomized approach, but that appears inconsistent with these observations.

Any communicators out there know of recommendations to start with layoffs in the morning? Or is it simply up the the preference of the communicator?

Up to the communicators.

@ljn - just FYI, those who were NSI'd in July and took one of the PIL options were given 7 days to return their equipment (if WFH), but their EM computer accounts were deactivated by the end of the day after they communicated their choice.

So, are the 1:1 meetings on-site at the campus, or remotely via Skype/Zoom?

Reason I ask is that I dressed up and drove to the campus for my annual performance review back in July, only to get kicked in the nuts.

The way they handled the whole thing was really disappointing. Could have done with just a phone call.

I'm not a communicator, but I'm anecdotally seeing the same thing. I'm also seeing that those people have not worked the rest of the day, or today as well. I think that mercifully the people that I know that were affected were given the time off to collect their thoughts, relax, mourn, etc. instead of squeezing a full days work out of them, only then to get the bad news. For reference, these are not people that are being asked to turn in their equipment immediately, so that's not why they're offline.

Having said all that, I don't think that an early morning meeting means that you will be laid off. I had mine early morning and was thankfully spared this round.

I heard that BTES and EMRE are going to see large numbers of layoff announcements soon. Not sure when the actual announcements will come. Knowing brutality of ExxonMobil, this could be on Dec 24.
