Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

It’s not as bad as it seems

I felt the company brought me to my knees when I was laid off in August - but it didn’t. I thought I couldn’t find employment when millions were out of work - but I did. I have friends who were laid off from their jobs at the same time and all but one have already found new jobs. Trust me when I tell you there’s life after Centene.

Must make everyone feel mighty good that Centene just finalized their acquisition of Apixio and is acquiring Pantherx, a specialty pharmacy focused on orphan d–gs and rare diseases, to blend into Envolve Pharmacy Solutions. Notice that the acquisition costs are never disclosed.

Profits in 3rdQ were 6x higher than 2019, so MFN can buy more companies, while they cut back on the people who got them where they are, largely on the payer side. Notice how marketing was cut way back this year for MA.

Is anyone thinking strategically that Envolve and Health Care Enterprises may be the future of Centene, and not the messy payer business which may become less profitable very soon and sold off?

That is good to know and I'm happy for you and your colleagues. I can't wait. January can't come soon enough. Can't wait to be done with this bootleg a– company. I don't want to work for a company that treats its employees this way, yet turns around raking in millions of dollars and still talking about how you value your employees. GTFOH! I'd rather sit on the couch all day watching Jerry Springer than continue to help this company succeed. The wealth of information I have is unmatched and I will gladly pass it on to another deserving company.

That being said, there is life after Centene, and after WellCare (or HealthNet, etc.) for those who came from there. I am glad I separated from Centene when I did. Glad to hear that life went on quickly for you, and that all goes well for you in the future!!

Depends on where you are, how senior you are, and how transferable your skills are. Unless you've been permitted to work for another payer, you're blocked for that when you leave (non-compete). Marketing is in a real recession, but if you have a ton of digital, you're attractive and transferable. If you are in another area, your skill set may be in more demand.
