Thread regarding Follett layoffs

What a kick in the ass

Been with Follett 15 years, haven't gotten a raise in God knows when. In 2007 was an ASM, Got "dumbed down" ever since, I don't even have a "team Lead" title, I'm just a PT employee. This is my second time "furloughed". Filed for UI for the second time beginning of November. Got called back for December to find out PTs can only get 20 hrs per MONTH. 1 day a week at 5 hours. Before you say leave, I'm in the process, but I am 59 and am trying. The only reason I'm going back is because there are only two people left in the store. MGR and ASM and they are good people. As far as Follett goes, they can s— my big toe. They don't deserve me or anyone else who has been loyal and got screwed royally. Get out while you can. I'll be there shortly. Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving and are healthy.

When managers were required to continue to work, after 100% of their staff was furloughed back in March, and then they took a pay cut, I looked in to applying for UI due to cut in pay. If you are cut more than 10% you can apply and continue to work. Since managers hours were not cut, actually worked considerably more, we were not eligible. With hours cut you would be eligible. I currently have staff collecting and still working at reduced hours. Once the care package kicks back in you will make a lot more staying at reduced hours and collecting.

Apply anyway & let the ue office decide if you are eligible.

When I was cut to 30 hours a week I asked if I should apply for UI and was told no. 30 hours is FT. I live paycheck to paycheck. Losing 20 hours every 2 weeks is k–ling me.

Still apply for unemployment, at least you will get something.
