Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

No long term future working for DXC outsourcing

Standard I.T. has been destroyed by Outsourcing. Somehow DXC and the other major IT Outsource players have convinced Client companies that it is a viable and cost effective alternative. I have done this and multiple other gigs long enough to know that it is not. I have yet to work for an outsource company using the ITIL method where there has been effective lines of communication between the client's internal remaining IT staff and the outsource company's staff. Permission issues, muddled procedures, middle management, and continual shoulder tapping at client sites have convinced me of this. It's a loose / loose (for client company personnel as well as the over worked supporting technicians).

I've decided to aim towards the field of computer programming and get away from Companies like DXC. There's flat out no future in the roles that the majority of us find ourselves supporting end users in this manner.

If PlatformX would be a product, it would not be coming from DXC.

In best case it's a wonnabe, in the usual case it's just slideware.

Compare Etsy stock versus Amazon for the year Etsy is up 300% higher than Amazon

This is the same problem with the outsourcers

There will always be a need for a cheaper product and getting it overnight

But more and more customers want a personalized product to give as a gift or something that is unique for themselves

This is really the fundamental problem with DXC as they sell off their software assets like healthcare Molina but retain business process outsourcing and it outsourcing for stable cash flow they lose their uniqueness

If platform X is a differentiator it should be led by a software leader or spun off into another company where it's value if any could be recognized by the market

Platform x buried and services is nothing special. And it's value diminishes over time as we move from on-premise to the cloud. So unless you turn platform X into something that a client can use is customer facing for the clients customers what value is platform X over The Long haul

I'm sure human resources is reading this message because my other posts were read by human resources deleted and communicated to me that they can track my IP address

The outsourcers end up under cutting each other so they end up with a cost cut non viable service which is very poor for the client.

How can you bid for a contract for x million less than it was 10 years ago, just a silly game and no one wins.

The service just gets watered down and staff get cut.

You've obviously never worked on an account that works then.

The secret is the client actively managing their ITO supplier.

It all goes wrong when they aren't willing or able to do so. It's not easy, it's hard work but it's the only way it works.

Obviously the cost savings are not as much as they imagine it could be, but it does work out cheaper and can be highly effective for the client.

Not many manage this but its their own fault.
