Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

'Yes-man mentality is ruining Intel

We have some really good, competent people working here who could lead us into greatness once again but they can't do anything because of the hordes of yes-men who will nod their heads and agree with everything the biggest honcho in the room says whether he or she is right or not. They will ignore and sensible or innovative proposal to keep the wrong people happy. This is our sad reality. And this is why the brain drain has been so bad recently.

A culture is built on trust and there is no trust among anyone at Intel. Can't tell you how many times that I've seen someone try to prevent a wreck in progress... do it tactfully and with sound logic... and found themselves on s list. It's really that simple. Speak up with a contrary perspective and you're out.

Hope y'all realize "constructive confrontation" at Intel has always been a giant trap to identify people who don't toe the management line.

That's exactly what Gelsinger said on the earnings call yesterday. He plans to drive Andy Grove culture back to intel.

Bring back some good old Original Intel Culture - sounds like Constructive Confrontation need to come back. Everyone on any team should be able to to speak up. Then there should be some Disagree and Commit permitted. No more elephants in Intel rooms. Who’s got enough guts to put these back in everyone’s toolbox?

Intel used to be a culture of constructive confrontation during Andy Grove time. Now is replaced by a caste culture and back stabbing culture.

being good and competent has nothing to do with advancement at intel, it is all about loyalty and backing your master when he is trying to out-bloviate some other brahmin potentate

Leave the untouchables out of this discussion. There is a class hierarchy and the EVP is GOD. You will answer all orthogonal questions in the meeting and realign those fonts on the ppt. And the color isn't right, go redo it all, now during the meeting and please show us real time on zoom what you are doing, share your screen.

Most of the managers are from....you know where. They brought their command & control work hierarchy, where the all-knowing manager has all of the answers and the workers are just untouchable peasants doing what the manager says. No exchange of new ideas, no discussion, no innovation.

Agree, and I don't have high hopes for fixing this ingrained culture
