Former employee here. Read this in another thread and I can't wrap my head around it. Did Barnes & Noble really get rid of maintenance staff in the middle of a pandemic?

Bathrooms were nasty before the pandemic . I’m not cleaning up after people who can’t aim or leave toilet paper & paper towels on the floor. It’s management’s job to protect us. Let them clean it.
“Man up”- haha
If bathrooms are germ ridden because BN can’t afford cleaners, the managers can clean them.
Man up- you’re funny.
Man up and help out. Times are tough and employees have to be willing to do what they can to keep the store going.
It's true. If they didn't get rid of the maintenance staff entirely, they reduced it to a point where the stores weren't being cleaned on a regular basis.
In some cases, they were trying to get booksellers to clean stuff during slow times (like dusting because they was either no maintenance staff on duty, or the maintenance staff was too busy because the stores are so short handed.
Yes. We clean it . To be honest , it’s not getting done often enough. Minimum wage ? Clean bathrooms? No.
You bet they did. Some stores still have a crew that comes in a couple times a week to clean the bathroom, but that’s about it in my area.
Yes it's true.
I'm not sure if that's more funny or dangerous if true.
