Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Why are you still at WFM?

We all know this is not the company it was when it started and is far removed from its original ideals some of us actually used to believe in. And it's obvious that working conditions have deteriorated over the years to the point that the majority of the employees (at least judging by the posts here) hates it here. So my question is, why do you stay? I'm stuck here because despite everything else, it still pays more than any alternative I was able to find. What's the reason for the rest of you?

I am staying for the money also. I never bought into the "kool aid" they were serving but I was always a hard worker and since they gave a lot so did I. Well, since the times are changing, I am now choosing to just blend in with the rest and do just enough to get by. No one at WFM gets fired for that, only for attendance and since I am never late I have nothing to worry about. I will give what they give now, minimal and I see it going down at a fast pace.

Money never drank the kool aid or cared about the gibberish that WF spouted off about caring about anything other than profit.

Love the " credit for time served " from the previous comment . The fact that you lasted 20+ years is a testament to your patience and endurance. Most people stay for the money and it's understandable. Amazon (WFM) is beginning to treat workers just like workers are treated in other countries. Everyone has to decide whether they will work under those conditions or leave. Sometimes the money just isn't enough to warrant putting up with the money reduction, shortened break time and amount of work and unrealistic goals.

"credit for time served...." ive been with em for 20years or so.....from the early venture capital days that mackey lusted after in the 90s(remember the cheerleading video a few years ago where he gloats about this fact) and only a few regions....to the frankenstein that it has become now...oh how i wish i could find some of my old paper, yes paper copies of the innerviews magazine, one great one was when they decided to change how gainsharing was calculated( does a.c. g*ll0 like profit sharing for pawns???)...oh the changes.....notice how after amazon begrudgingly gave us one stock share that we havent received anymore compensation on that level????? my life as an algorithmic data ghost now....scans scans and more scans lads!!!!!
