It kind of makes sense for Atos, especially in UK. When Ursula Morgenstern moved on and was replaced by Adrian Gregory, it was pretty clear that his focus was only going to be ITO. That's when I left, as it was clear that ITO wasn't exactly a growth area for the industry as a whole. Lots of my colleagues did the same.
However, as ITO shrinks across the industry, it's only logical that in order to survive the ITO companies will need a bigger share of that shrinking market. Atos has the purchasing power to buy up other ITOs, and their route to growth has always been acquisition. A purchase of DXC and IBM ITO by Atos would not surprise me at all.
If / when this happens, expect the local country organizations to be focused purely on sales, and delivery of secure accounts where offshore is not permitted only. So if you're working for one of these companies and you're not in sales, it might be time to consider a career change.
