Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Atos Origin will also acquire IBM ITO business

Combine legacy EDS ITO business and squeeze blood out of a turnip until it is empty using cash flow to migrate into new products services and markets

Layoffs will be a part of life

Migration to low-cost labor and expansion to Malaysia Indonesia Singapore 4th largest economy will expand

If you don't expand in India you die

There is a smoke-and-mirrors approach to offshoring 'secure accounts' in the UK and the UK Government are complicit with this. CSC/DXC has a long history of retaining the utterly worthless staff and WFR'ing the productive ones.

I'm not sure even if atos has the cash to buy either company it has the money and skill to integrate one let alone both.

Massive acquisition means massive transformation and just being a brutal cost cutting regime doesn't guarantee success.. Anyone working for dxc can tell you that.

From everything I've read, the last big atos purchase was hardly a success story harvard will be teaching from...

It kind of makes sense for Atos, especially in UK. When Ursula Morgenstern moved on and was replaced by Adrian Gregory, it was pretty clear that his focus was only going to be ITO. That's when I left, as it was clear that ITO wasn't exactly a growth area for the industry as a whole. Lots of my colleagues did the same.

However, as ITO shrinks across the industry, it's only logical that in order to survive the ITO companies will need a bigger share of that shrinking market. Atos has the purchasing power to buy up other ITOs, and their route to growth has always been acquisition. A purchase of DXC and IBM ITO by Atos would not surprise me at all.

If / when this happens, expect the local country organizations to be focused purely on sales, and delivery of secure accounts where offshore is not permitted only. So if you're working for one of these companies and you're not in sales, it might be time to consider a career change.
