Pat had his pay cut last year

That might have made his move much easier

Anyone who rose up in Intel under Grove's shadow had to be bossy and argumentative. There was an article that said Pat rubbed some ppl the wrong way if he didn't feel they were up to snuff. They also said that that during his tenure at VMware he mellowed out a little and learned not to be so brusque. But as they say, you can take the tiger out of the jungle, but not the jungle out of the tiger. Now you are putting the tiger back in the jungle. The jungle that botched 10nm so bad that even 5 years after it was supposed to be be in MVP, it's not a viable node in terms of yield.

Does anyone know Pat’s working style? Is he bossy and argumentative like BK or nicer and pleasant in general ?

If BK didn't take over, Pat would've been the CEO this entire time

He will go with an axe to clean up house. Get ready for some drastic changes on all fronts. He got rid of many toxic execs at VMware. During the pandemic (as soon as COVID lockdowns started), they told all VMware employees that VMware will no longer contribute employees' 401K. The VMware culture which Pat fostered...mirrored the Dell culture (i.e. regular round of layoffs). Those at Intel accustomed to their cushy existence with zero accountability and ALL employees accustomed to the Intel benefits (i.e. bonuses et al)...will soon be getting a rude awakening.

He has got to be worth a fortune, think of all of INTC stock options he received in the 80s. He's not doing this for the money, he is doing it because he wants to save Intel and because he loves technology.

C-suite makes their compensation based on stock/options not salary. I don't think he gives a flying hoot. He's also old enough and has made enough money he could retire tomorrow. The only reason i can fully comprehend with this move on his part is he genuinely wants to fix things (and is probably p-ss-d about the politics of his removal beforehand). For someone with as much money as he's made it becomes a personal pride issue not daily subsistence. He's 59 years old and climbed the ranks a number of times across multiple companies. I'm willing to give him a shot.
