Thread regarding Ascension Health layoffs

Can someone provide an update on WTH is going on? (former AT employee)

I am a former AT employee and had been giving some thought to returning, if I could find something. I'm not sure now after reading all these threads. I had started to believe that Ascension Michigan was already outsourcing much of their IT, because there were so few positions posted on their career site the last couple of years. There used to be regular Deskside / Desktop Support positions posted. I haven't seen one of those for the Detroit area in quite some time. Same with Provisioning. So has most everything been moved to HCL? What is happening over there, in the Detroit area?

From my viewpoint, the place used to be great to work at until Ascension took over and everything went to national teams. I should have read the handwriting on the wall then and got out...

I jumped ship just after the greedy b–tards Gerry Lewis & co. made their announcement back in August 2020 that the whole service desk and other IT divisions of AT were going to be outsourced to HCL. Learning from others about HCL's subpar pay and other less than stellar things about HCL, I don't miss the HCL cluster-F one bit. I do miss my AT peeps though. It's a shame AT was once a great IT company to work for, only to be destroyed by Gerry Lewis and his minions.

@Nfwe+18TJzPdR - The best time to jump ship and find a new job is when you've already got one and don't feel pressure to jump at the first job that gets offered...

@Nfwe+18TJzPdR - Enterprise SERVER maybe? If that's what they meant, there were a lot more than just server folks. There were also backup guys, storage guys, a handful of virtualization folks, and probably some others I've forgotten...

What do you mean by enterprise services?

I jumped ship. I don't regret it with the volatility of ascension they cannot be trusted. I would say follow your first thought. If you have to think about it it's time to move on.

AH took a lot of PPE cash and used it to boost their cash line. Punting the service desk and desktop took a lot of pending PTO off their books. Now they’re getting rid of enterprise services, Telecom and parallel services like crt and provisioning - And they’re starting to sell off physical assets like hospitals and clinics. All this and the Google cash gives them a huge incentive to act like a venture capitalist - Lots of money for tele health and million dollar commercials. Yes and they reneged on severance to the HCL transfers by adding the threat of metric compliance. It’s sad to see the crt P2’s spike HCL was never prepared for that boat leaving the dock. Remember that AH is now content with building a lot of cash for those management guys in St Louis - They kept that as it makes non taxable money.

Some people thought it was "all rumors" on the Service Desk too... until they were packing up their desks with tears in their eyes. Gear up, guys and gals. FS will be outsourced. Prepare yourselves.

You only had to listen to the All-call meeting 1/20 and 1/15. There is no SET date but Megan and Gerry both talked about the "transformation" and which groups they are considering sending to outside companies. FS Network Telcom

Nothing was mentioned in the meeting today about any FS ministries being outsourced to HCL except AMITA. I like the previous poster want to know if this is just a rumor and if HR was present. I assume if it's true then something would have been said today.

Is this all rumor that these ministries are being outsourced or did an actual email/meeting take place and it was said with HR there?

Desktop support Field Services in Detroit Area (MIDET) has not replaced anyone that has left or died. We are down at least 20 people. They just recently did bring in a few TEK systems contractors (all previous AT employees that were laid off) This week Banana Lady (Megan) announced they were moving AMITA FS from NTT to HCL. In here speech to us she acted like this is the greatest thing in the world and was way to giddy. Reading between the lines in her speech to us FS will all most likely be outsourced on our great transformation. Said how valuable and needed FS is but F you we don't want to pay for you. Send you off to HCL who will hire us for out knowledge and then have $12 hr techs. Gerry and all his minions will line their pockets and then leave. You would think Ascension would have learned after the CSC outsourcing. Three years ago they brought FS into Ascension. And now out we go. Goodman and Septre saw the writing and went to Beumont. Poynter was fired as he did not go along with this narrative

How, if any, does this effect areas like application support. Been watching job offers in areas of WIMIL, WIGLE, ETC. Seems job listing in the areas have disappeared in last year or so.

Does this outsourcing include any of the leadership? Service Delivery Managers? FS Managers? Service Delivery Directors? What is there end goal here? A lot of talented people are going to jump ship. How is this a service the to hospitals?

ININD, MIKAL, TNNAS, & MIGRA FS have all been notified they are being out sourced to HCL. I expect the rest to follow shortly.

For TNNAS, why doesn't HCL hire the local AT staff given that desktop / field need to work onsite (are they nuts)?

What areas were handled by CSC in the past? I'm assuming that HCL is not seen as keenly as CSC (although many didn't care for CSC either). Not sure what areas Dell covered at Ascension (wasn't it desktop support and telecomm?). The most disturbing thing about this news is the outsourcing overseas. Other areas will still have to remain on premises where physical presence is needed.
