I would be happy to volunteer for the January 22 round if a half-decent severance is offered. I don't even hate this place as much as some here do, it's just time to move on since I actually hope to make some progress in my career. I'll leave either way within a year, that much I know.

CSC UK I got 7 years ago I think week for every year, 3 months notice paid up front when left. Then if say voluntary redundancy an extra 1500 sterling.
UK first 30k redundancy is tax free.
Think walked away with about 40k sterling in the bank..
Now earning more in a company where people valued.
Juat highlights CSC HPE.. DXC and Atos really do not care about people or family.
Formerly a wfr’d DXC employee. I got hit last July after 20 years of employment. You can expect to get 8 weeks of severance for anything above 15 years. Just be mindful that half of that will go to taxes. My advice, you control your destiny; don’t wait for them to send you packing because you want the packaged deal..it’s not honestly that great, unless you can land on your feet quickly.
Got my 6 weeks after being WFR. Good luck people. This pandemic is doing a number on everyone. Don't wait for DXC to send you out the door, they will work you to death first then show you the door. It's how they save money.
Wow no employment contract at all?
That seems rather strange in a country I'd assume more tied up in legal tape than here.
Thanks for the answer though. Interesting.
Before the policy was changed, as a 20+ year ex-EDSer, I had essentially 6 months of 'severance' owing (22 weeks + a typical 2 week notice period). The 'official' policy was 2 weeks minimum, plus a week per year up to a maximum of 26 weeks.
That was changed overnight to a maximum of 8 weeks...essentially taking the safety-net away - didn't like it, you knew where the door was. That was when I started looking and eventually left the company.
In general, severance is pretty minimal in the USA, like most other employee protections, it's not really given much thought, or has any legal requirement to be offered. Two weeks notice is typical, but most employees work 'at-will', don't really have any sort of contract (at least that protects THEIR rights) and can basically be let go for no reason at any time with only payment for work already completed owing. Varies a little state to state, but in general, we get none of the joys of worker councils, redundancy payments, severance etc that are generally guaranteed in other countries.
Back in 2009 when I worked for a bank, they have me 3 months severance + 5 weeks vacation pay
Serious question to my American coworkers.... Does anyone in this area of business pay any more severance than what you have mentioned?
Did in all those years you worked for HP did you see them offering generous payoffs?
Is your severance terms written into your employment contract?
Total bull , in the town hall we have fund pay raises. Yes that's true but the CEO. NEO's and other executives keep getting their bonus and increases. If our margins aren't high enough for the people who actually do the work then the CEO, NEO's and executives shouldn't get increases either.
It's pathetic. 3yrs = 2 weeks, 3-5 yrs = 4 weeks, 5-9 yrs = 5 weeks, 9-15 yrs = 6 weeks, 15+yrs = 8 weeks max. Benefits cease on the last day of employment.
Same here... it's a job, you get a paycheck, pay bills, put food on the table, allow for a few beers, and build savings. But I also have asked my manager in the past, if we can raise our hand to have us put in the WFR list... the answer has always been no. Also the severance is not changing from what I've been told, we get 8 weeks maximum. For us having over 25 years here from HP-HPE-ES-DXC it's a slap in the face. Despite that I'd volunteer.
