Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

How do I volunteer?

Is there any way I can volunteer for the next round of layoffs? I got another job lined up in a few months - but that's not something I'd want to share, of course. If I could find a way to be laid off in the meantime, that'd be great for me financially and it could hopefully save somebody else who doesn't want to leave. Is there anything I can do?

A guaranteed way to get rif’d is first tell your immediate boss that you want to be laid off. Then, go out on std fir almost 12 weeks, if you have been employed long enough you should get 100% pay. Come back to work and within 6-12 weeks you will magically be laid off. I know of at least 15 people who were laid off under these circumstances. Good luck.

One thing, aside from congratulations. Wait until after you receive your STI before leaving. I am pretty sure if you leave before the payout date you forfeit it from last year, even if you earned it.

No, that would make too much sense to let someone volunteer to save someone else a job. No, AIG likes to play employment God with its people. You are stuck until your number is called, then you reach the promised land of a separation package.

Also a volunteer RIF would probably result in more than half of the company leaving so it will never happen. Congratulations on the new job. RIF or not, take it and don't ever, ever, ever look back! Never, I mean never.
