DXC is a new era Titanic. It is already going downward spiral with no hope of rescue. There is a saying, your company is as good as your manager. I worked for a decade and now they are laying off people who had worked with more than 25+ years with the company. No equal opportunity. They will get you into a state where you fire yourself off(shoot in your own foot). Old legacy technologies, stupid managers, bad policies, incapable or non existent HR personnel, awkward methodologies, what not you say...

DXC is doing everything wrong to make the Titanic catch fire, then sink into the deepest part of the ocean, come back up.. lite it up again then rinse and repeat till everything is burnt to a crisp. Can't even get people onboarded right!
Well, if DXC is a sinking ship, you will soon realise, that they can't eaven sink a ship properly. In the end the ship will be half sunken, as DXC is not sticking to plan longer. They will be busy finding another way to destroy the company.
Don't be ridiculous! HR will be in the lifeboats long before workers even see the iceberg.
At least HR can hire a band to play "Abide with me" as the ship slowly slips beneath the waves (or into ATOS)
Everything is short term thinking, rarely beyond the current quarter.

HR's function is to cover the company's behind (or a particular manager's or a particular department). Employees are just another resource to use in achieving the company's goals.
If HR does not benefit employees, what they benefit ? Companies means employees, not just a trade or share market quotes. HR means Human resources, Does company exist without employees ?
HR's primary job is to satisfy the Employees, not the elite board members who owns enough shares to look after themselves.
But you need to consider: DXC is doing everything in maximun slow pace!
Even sinking the own ship is in slomo, so it will take a while.
This will allow managment to state: see we are not sunken yet, we are doing well.
You say incapable or non existent HR personnel, but HR works for the companies benefit not the employee's with a decade of work experience you should understand that by now.
