Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Build Bronco Sport together with Escape.

Bronco Sport and Escape are on the same platform, so why no make it in the same assembly line?

My understanding is an assembly can top out at 300 000 to 400 000 vehicles a year. The Bronco Sport and Escape combined will be lucky to meet that number. So why wasn’t the Bronco Sport made in America where the escape is built? Better to have 3 shifts working overtime, than have two underutilized plants.

Edge and Flex were both made in a single plant, sharing the same platform. So it can be done.

Yes the company needs sales but not false profits.

False profits = book the sale on balance sheet when it exits plant door, then either

  • let the vehicle lot rot while we pay another group of people to fix all the manufacturing defects/omissions
  • and/or have large warrantee liability issues

Witness Explorer and F150 launches.

Ford needs to focus on quality, safety and reliability. All Ford processes and procedures in place that counteract those 3 basic tenets need to go ASAP along with all the managerial players who create and prop up systems counter to the companies best interest. Sadly that is well over half of the managerial ranks and a good swath of the GSRs.

Maybe the built in Mexico product would have better quality. Tell you what - this company needs profits now, and profits come from sales. The output at the moment of the Bronco Sport is so low that we are in. danger of another blown launch. I know, cause the build date of my Bronco Sport has been pushed back three times already. That is once two many - I am out and moving on to something else,

Have control of you supply base, as well iad dealing with ‘covid’ restrictions much easier if in the same country. Maybe Ford should think about consolidating all manufacturing of vehicles in a market IN that market- kinda of like Toyota and Honda have done now for nearly 3O years...

Edge and Flex completely different platforms. No efficiencies really.
