Allstate Day of Change protest planned

The Allstate Employees For Change committee has organized and scheduled a "Day of Change" protest during Monday January 25th 2021. There are hundreds of fellow Allstaters from multiple departments ranging from front line to division leaders already committed to participating. From 10am to 3pm on Monday January 25th you are asked to log out of all systems and cease work functions to protest the unacceptable work conditions, unwarranted layoffs that affected thousands of our brothers and sisters in 2020, and the impossible work metrics that are designed to keep us from succeeding and receiving performance bonuses, raises, and promotions. We must stand up for our rights and treatments. They must realize that without us they have nothing. Exercise you right of expression on Monday January 25th. We must have and push for change! Thank You!

So. How’d that go? Did anyone even do it? Work today seemed no different than usual so doesn’t seem like that many of you guys actually logged off. Or if you did, didn’t make any difference.

How dare you! This is a RESISTANCE and those participating are no less than FREEDOM FIGHTERS!! We shall bravely stand against tyranny by not working for 5 hours!! This will go down in HISTORY, similar to the brave 300 Spartans at Thermopylae!! We shall triumph over the god-king Wilson by meandering around for 5 hours!!

Ridiculous. I was “retired” in October after 35 years. They will replace you within a week. Hope you all have new jobs lined up

This is just one day. We need to organize! I would be happy to help, but have no idea where to start.

Organize already then! Long overdue. You have nothing to loose. You have a right to pursue a Union as needed. Wake up before all the jobs go overseas. But don’t wait too long! Now is the time

Yep don't worry, they'll just fire a few here and there, then UN a few. You should have actually organized

I guarantee you the person telling you not to worry will be working.

Don’t worry about it. They aren’t firing people en masse for this. Media would have a field day.. you never know of you got exposed to COVID that weekend and have to get tested.

Finally some info on how to get some protection and a fairness compromise between management and claims workers . Good post thanks. Calling on Tuesday after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Day to see if they’ll help us. Dr. King would be proud! Allstate should have closed for his holiday years ago They never will.

If we really want to make a difference this is the union that covers a lot of body shop nation wide. Give their organizing department a call, get coworkers on board. the Boss's promise is temporary a union contract is in writing!

Start having connection issues early next week. Break your hard wire, take the antenna off your router if there are any. Make every device in your home stream at once, downgrade your signal

This is about as good an idea as storming the capitol... it might feel good but will accomplish nothing and could have repercussions ..shake your fist at the sky.... it will do about as much... what I see is a bunch of people with jobs b–ching when millions are out of work and thousands laid off... really????

I used a sick day. Between the people who will take that day off and those with “system errors”, could be enough to make a statement!!

System issue, cool, no worries, you don't need to be on VPN for them to login and help

I will be having a systems issue happen that day spontaneously where I can’t log in. It is the darndest thing

Those of you planning to do this thinking “they won’t fire us all” or “they’ll go under before they can replace us” are wrong. You will be fired. You will be replaced. Vendors are cheaper. You will not make any difference and are most likely doing your boss a favor by doing this.

Agents are useless anyway, Half of you dont even know what you’re selling, you just want to “sell”, then an insured had a claim and you give them the 800 number. You can’t even “sell” rental and barely know how the product works. This isn’t 1950, agents are borderline useless except for the old timers that have had Allstate since WW2 anyway

The agent morale is at an all-time low. Goals have been increased to unattainable numbers, no leads from the company or online. When a customer does buy a policy online we service it for FREE the 1st year, get paid $6-$12 the remainder. Its honestly not worth servicing.

Marketing money- $0. Commissions reduced. Goas increased. All support- GONE or virtual chat with 2 hour wait time. The morale couldnt be worse and thats unfortunate. As a sales person, we want to sell. We like the thrill of the sale, they have removed all motivation and replaced with fear to produce or lose. Agents are in bad mood and bad moods dont make sales.

Support the protest and demand change!

Brilliant idea! This is exactly why they would not let us bring in collective-bargaining. Home Office wants to win all the way around; consequently, the employees lose all the way around.

Allstate knows we are the most underpaid in the industry yet we are the most thoroughly trained.

You can’t always count on others to stand up for you. Much of the time it is true that if you don’t stand up for yourself, no one will. If you do protest, do so with courage and a sense of nobility. Be better than those who mistreat you.

3qze+18PixVWg, it's a long shot anyone is going to go through with this. But maybe enough will and when they're gone you'll have virtual seniority. Hopefully you work out of the "Charlotte campus". since they're publicly stating they won't be working. Do what you think is right for you.

To everyone saying “just find another job” that’s literally exactly what is allowing them to treat us all so poorly. They’re capitalizing on a global pandemic to create short staffed working conditions to save a quick buck KNOWING that people are more likely to stay because the job market is poor right now. Opportunistic and downright dirty. Profits, shareholders, money. That’s all Allstate cares about. As a 20+ year employee I have watched it go downhill and a company that used to genuinely care about customers and employees only cares about lining their pockets further. Accept horrid working conditions and mistreatment or try to find a job elsewhere in a global pandemic and keep a roof over your family’s head. Great choices. What a great company that preaches putting “people ahead of policies”.

“ This is traditionally known as Senior Ditch Day. Just as juvenile and effective.”

Lol yes we did this in high school too to protest something long since forgotten. Student body of 5,000+ prepared to walkout between 6th and 7th period.

The 3 kids who did got suspended.

I said it last night and I will say it again, the people that support this are id–ts. Why don’t you just all fly into O’Hare and storm Northbrook or go protest in front of Wilson’s home. That might get you the press you want. Please, anything less than that will net you nothing. Do you think Americans or legal bodies really have a soft spot for the poor employees of Allstate with everything else going. Millions are going thru the same thing. Delusional. And who is heading up this “committee” that is mentioned. I bet that this is really organized effort. Save yourselves and stop already.

I know the conditions are awful and it is easy for me to say being let go is the best thing that happened to me. But after 30 plus yrs, I also know this is a losing proposition, this company is not going to change because of a blue flu. So either deal with it or grow a pair and trust in your own ability, take accountability for your own financial situation and bust a move. Otherwise, accept your lot in life.

Absolutely right. All they can do is dock 5 hours PTO from their little scandal Kronos program. If they even try to discipline the masses it will only get worse going forward for them. We far outnumber them especially when there are division managers participating. Many within our department are taking part in 1/25 and working from home makes it easier for everyone to take part. Including exempts and leaders. Even if it is just a 5 hour disruption a statement needs to be made. And I am excited to see agents are also participating. Strength in numbers as it has been said many times so far. They will hear us on 1/25.
