Indonesia's Sriwijaya Air plane loses contact after taking off from Jakarta. It is a 737-500.
This is a developing story...more to come.

Dejà vu?

Is the Boeing Leadership Center open in St Louis
Guess this is a aviation crash blog site now
Wow! The people inside were weightless for 14 seconds, like astronauts. It must has been terrifying.
For sure, airplane intact, both engines working fine and nose pointing straight down.
Bye Bye Boeing good bye. Will someone step up and buy Boeing 's CAS?
Latest news say that it dropped 10,000 feet in 14 seconds!! That changes everything. That means it was travelling to the ground at cruising speed, or close, and near vertical! That opens all possibilities.
12-13 degree angle of descent almost rules out a s–c-dal pilot (yes, like the German one, remember?) or otherwise the angle would be much steeper.
I am guessing the aircraft was hit by lightning and it damaged the engines or a control surface.
Not Boeing's or pilots fault in this case. I rule out a maintenance issue as well. We'll see.
I am sure Boeing will say it was Indonesia fault because they are a third world country.
we might find out it had mcas or was a max after all. Stay tubed. 10k feet down in less than a minute shortly after takeoff sounds eerily family eh mate?
url+18PIpXoS thanks for the info.
Well, let's see. It's not a MAX so no MCAS
It has not been in Boeing's possession in over 25 years. So it can't be union FoD left in the tanks.
I wonder how people on this site will blame Boeing for this one?

A probation violation already!
Another 737 in the bottom of the ocean.
10,000 ft/min descend means that if it was travelling at cruise speed, the slope angle of descend was about 13 degrees. Scary.
This may be the end of BCA as we know it.
Falling at that speed means.... It was intact and nose down, that's for sure.
