Best way to be let go and get a severance package

What would be the best approach to be let go without burning bridges and securing the default severance package?

Expat here so they would have to relocate me back to Europe as well.

Any suggestions?

You should have brought this up in the begining maybe US worker could have kept thier job and you could have gone home. It would have been a wash. It seems they did not send the EXPATS home and cut a buch of US worker to save face.

Don’t meet your monthly QHSE reporting objective, definite grounds for dismissal.

Lol
just sit and wait - everyone I know has been in the wrong place wrong time ....or met a young incompetent overly motivated over-promoted person who wants to show they are tough and needs names to be fired. You can tell who they are in the organization very easily slimy .... make a fumbling presentation to them and pack you stuff you will be gone in a week regardless of your 20+ years of working and A ratings

Hello, be quiet respectful and can you have an honest conversation with manager or HR, that if there were more releases I am in a position provided the rumours on decent severance is in place where I could be considered..... do not put in writing as maybe considered resignation and bye bye severance. Also get your job up to date...bear in mind they could / should try to save / reassign you to home country and good luck with local taxes etc

Alternatively just sit and wait - everyone I know has been in the wrong place wrong time ....or met a young incompetent overly motivated over-promoted person who wants to show they are tough and needs names to be fired. Let your manager know and don’t beat around the bush. I know folks who asked and both got packages when the time came.

If you’ve been in the role for 2-3 yrs, ask for a new role/promotion and remind them after a few discussions that it wouldn’t be the end of the world if you were to be let go
Good luck!

Let your HR manager know that if there are more releases planned, you would be OK to be let go if this prevents the release of one of your colleagues.
