Thread regarding Pearson PLC layoffs

Waste of resources

We can meet a dozen professors from multiple campuses instead of wasting 5 hours in traffic. Sales meetings are a complete waste of resources. Haven’t we learned anything from being online on how to conduct business differently? Huge liability thinking they should fly us across the country to squish into a germ infested hotel to waste a million dollars and learn what we could’ve on Zoom. Put that into paychecks instead!

Original story at @rbde+18k3juZ3. I absolutely agree! Why they do that is beyond me, it is completely illogical. I’m afraid that this isn’t the only way they’re wasting resources unnecessarily?

It's completely old school way of thinking. We don't need to track down people in person. Other industries are finding excellent ways of doing business. Reps wasting hours circling on campus is not good business. Digital is the way to go not only for our products before the way we work. As for NSM complete waste of time and money. Yes it's important for the company to get together, but in smaller local groups that are meaningful.

I agree on sales meetings not being the best use of time and resources but meeting as a company once a year is important. Maybe not in 2021. Also there is nothing like a face to face meeting with customers and getting to know them in person. Tracking down instructors for takeaway business is often the best way to get our products in front of them.
