Recently I was curious about layoffs at Chevron since we have been using them as benchmark for almost every area. Reading through about 20+ threads on their forum, I quickly saw obvious differences between the two groups.
- Unlike this XOM forum, I hardly see anger and hatred in CVX conversations. Most were calm and accepting the fact.
- Did not see a single thread complaining about their CEO/chairman.
XOM should stop trying to compete with Chevron or considering them as rival/equivalent competitor, because we are already far behind them from every aspect. We performed much worse than them during this crisis. We used dirty trick to lay off people without calling it a layoff, while they gave their employees a chance to reapply for their positions to prove that they qualified for the job. We cut 401K while they still contribute to their employees' 401K. Our layoff forum is full of hatred, anger and dissatisfaction while their forum is much calmer. In all and all, XOM has already lost to CVX for taking care of their employees and to make their employees respect and trust the company leadership. Respect and trust won't come by just saying empty words. They are earned through doing the right things and take real actions, which still haven't been seen yet at XOM.
