Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Happy New Year!

With the start of a new calendar year, and next fiscal planning in process, does anyone have any insights or predictions on organizational change? Hopefully something more than a chicken little panic that the world is coming to an end, but what will happen to Apps vs. OCI?

I predict large layoffs in cloud tech in FY22. The numbers are not there, our SMB business sells more cloud than our enterprise business. I do not blame our enterprise customers, I’ve sold Oracle tech for 8+ years and would never buy it based on how I’ve seen this company treat my customers. Free services included in cloud is the latest BS, zero chance that gets executed well.

I’ve seen this company lie to customers, steal my commissions I’ve earned, and might offer the absolute worst support imaginable to their customers.

Despite all that, I stay because I get paid very well and luckily have worked for great people...secretly I’m hoping for a layoff in June so I can take my severance and move on

Meanwhile we were all forced to go through multiple certifications

Sux to be you! My advice: learn to enjoy getting reamed in the a**, or else show initiative by improving your work situation and leaving.

Any cretin can continue to play the victim card.

Today, in Austin, one of our former SC’s started at Microsoft, with quite a nice raise, thank you. He completed his Oracle certifications, but focused on Microsoft as well.

  • what will happen to Apps vs. OCI?

Apps are better off than tech - this is true even for most legacy apps, not just the SAAS services.

Negative double whammy on OCI. In general, most tech products are doing poorly at Oracle, however in OCI’s case it is doing worse than most and nowhere near its growth targets. Expect to see further reductions throughout the remainder of Q3, as well as into Q4 and especially early Q1 FY22. If you work in OCI don’t get caught with your pants down - find the eject button and push it ASAP.
