Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

How many people are leaving this month because you get your vacation entitlement and no reason to stay on the sinking ship

Perfect time to leave after snagging all your vacation on January 1. I got laid off but that was my plan B.

Hopefully a lot of folks decide to do it (assuming they can afford to be without work for a bit) because assuming your situation is healthy to leave, you will be better off and I think exxonmobil employees that are being disrespected and treated poorly deserve some rest and stress relief.

Also anyone that has had success finding new job, please share! How many months did it take, salary % up or Down, other bennys, etc. Those success stories will hopefully help our brothers and sisters out as they decide....

Much love for those struggling to deal with their unhappiness and don’t listen to the people that say you should be happy. You have a certain expectation of life and that’s fine. Yes there are people suffering worse per say but that has nothing to deal with your personal life and goals. Your life is not to be compared to others, end of story. It is a defeating and delusional thought process most of the time (except when it helps people feel fortunate for what they have compared to others, sure

Happy new year folks!

Your comment is funny. You're right. XOM is hardly a sinking ship, because it's already sunk. If you don't see it yet, you must have already been drowned along with the ship.

It's incredible that people still think XOM pays better than most other companies. It may be true for some position but not for tech and IT. As a matter of fact, I got 3 offers, one with a small and fairly young company, and all three have better total compensation than XOM. If you do a quick research, you will realize that XOM only pays average or below average. Don't be fooled by the base salary. Look at the total compensation. Other companies may pay a slightly lower base salary but when you add other benefits like RSU and bonuses, XOM's total compensation is not even close. The only thing that may make XOM look better is the pension. However, after what they did to the 401K, will you trust XOM pension in the future? I won't. Putting my bet on XOM pension is the same as putting my trust in XOM leadership. Trusting the XOM leadership is the last thing I want to do right now.

Advice to XOM's leadership, HR, and management: Stop being c—y. Be humble. Accept the fact that XOM is no longer #1. It is a fact that there's lot of FAT in the company and it is right to let go the FAT. However, it is also a fact that there are talented people in the companies, like me (sorry for not being humble here), who can leave the company anytime they want. So don't challenge them to leave when they bring up problems and throw them into your face. Only people who are incapable of finding jobs elsewhere are scared of leaving XOM, not those who are capable of. And you want to keep those who are capable of.

Goodbye and take care to those who choose to stay!

Early career is also leaving. No job security in a declining industry by staying with this company.

My LinkedIn feed is churning notifications of xom mid career technical colleagues leaving on their own to other companies. It's a brain drain.

@jhh+18KMZKKD We are still WINNING! Definition of win, varies.. winning could be being the biggest loser?

Typical problem with Exxonmobil employees. Too many in the company have the fictitious belief that a ExxonMobil is superior to others in the industry. Clearly this is not accurate especially in 2020.

Looks to me like your network s—s. I've known a few that were PIP'd and ended up making more from going elsewhere.

I keep in touch with a few that were PIPed in the summer and none are close to finding a job of equal or same salary. I'm grateful that I wasnt laid off because I realize now how good the pay is at Exxon relative to the work we actually do. I have confidence that the bosses will get us out of this one.

@krq+18KMZKKD , showing that kind of attitude, it is going to be hard to see it?. My manger at XTO told us that now it is good time to be in this huge ship in Permian than a smaller ship in another place, maybe he did not notice that the Titanic went down or because his reports a lot of people when layoff.

Lol. Losing money again 4Q, still paying the dividend, paying CL 27+ bonus in RSU for a tough year (millions to DW), getting rid of technical talent versus cutting management FAT, Selling assets to pay the dividend, more loans incoming to continue to pay the dividend, lost its spot in the DOW. AND...

Managers seem to spin that the company is in a good spot and will be stronger! Nice one, that's probably how you brownosed your way into the company.
