Who is dreading what's ahead for us in these next dark months?
Barnes & Noble is free to do whatever it wants (and always does) and I was wondering if your co-workers know about this page and if you told them about it. I've seen people talking about TheLayoff page on Twitter and Facebook and I think this page is sort of the union we employees should've had decades ago.
What are your thoughts?

Haven’t found a truthful BN manager yet. Especially in Tennessee.
Are any of the managers telling the truth? When they come on here it's all lies.
Get out. Before you’re thrown out !
Don’t they have bare bones staff now? How will they run the store with less employees?
BN doesn't give a SHT about employees. Period. I was canned in September 2020, after being furloughed in March. I kept in touch with management & they lied about bringing me back to work. I told them that I would literally do anything they needed to get through this situation–that I'd help in any department.
So, organizing via a forum like this is good insofar as people who can't talk to management can communicate among themselves. It feels good to know there are others who can empathize with us.
As far as advancing any change whatsoever at BN, that's highly unlikely. The SHT that rolls downhill to booksellers is woven into BNs corporate culture. I thought it was only the Paramus, NJ store that had toxic managers. The more I heard from others, the more I understood that it's a companywide attitude.
It's great to want to change things for the better. In this case, it's a complete waste of time.
You should–you must–look out for your own welfare & secure a future elsewhere. BN won't have your back. It didn't have mine or my fellow workers who gave the company loyal service for even longer than I did. People can call us fools for staying so long, but honestly, we all enjoyed working with books & know how important & enriching reading is.
Too bad a company can't recognize that kind of satisfaction & commitment in those who've stayed the course.
Start looking for new work. Others will tell you the same thing. You'll feel better for having taken matters into your own hands before they do it for you. Best wishes to you.
Lay offs are coming. Don’t wait to be let go. Start job hunting now !
