He is spot on, Intel should put him on the board, whole BOD needs a shakeup, I would not trust who they replace Swan with.
Best summary I have found of what he said:
https://www.electronicsweekly.com/news/business/t-j-rodgers-slams-intel-2021-01/
“What they need to do now is to make the best servers and CPUs in the world, this year, right now, in volume,” said T.J., “I keep hearing out of them about their carbon footprint and diversity issues and stuff like that – they’ve chosen not to focus on the business.”
“They need a new CEO,” he added, “the CEO needs to be technical. They’ve got to get someone who is respected by the technical community.”
“I have zero sympathy for the whiners at Intel who sit there and say, for three and a half years now, ‘Gee we can’t make 7nm’. Samsung can make 7nm, TSM can make 7nm.”
the current CEO who, says T.J., “talks about which parts he’s going to chop off and sell while the buzzards are flying around talking about strategic options and stuff like that.”
The guy is quite the straight shooter
Can you imagine being an investor at Intel and hearing THAT? Man, Intel’s stock is gonna plummet on Monday.
Long live outsourcing CPUs. First Apple, now Microsoft making their own silicon. It won’t be too much longer where all hardware makers like Dell/HP/HPE/Lenovo etc. follow suit.
why would Intel need a new CEO if you think it's a lost cause?
Loved his line about diversity and all that BS from BS, says it all, I’d hate to be a real engineer at Intel now.
Kind of like a sailor on the Titanic and see the incompetence from and lack of transparency or vision from the BoD down to the VPs and Fellows
