Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Happy New Year, how is everyone doing?

I am wondering how everyone is doing that was laid off in Sept.? Have most found jobs? If not, how is the search going? I am still looking but had a few very promising interviews this week so I am hopeful an offer will come out of it soon. So, just checking to see how everyone else is doing. I feel like 2021 is going to be much better, and just know you are not alone.

Please note to anybody still employed at Dell, I honestly don't care how you are feeling or what is going on at Dell, so please don't chime in, that's not what this board is for. I don't want to hear your complaints, or your questions about what is going to happen there, you have a job and a paycheck, be happy and if you are not, then find a new job, but don't respond on here, it's really not appreciated.

I’m enjoying my time being gone. Just like the other person said, I was an abusive relationship. Still healing from the scars of being stabbed in the back. Going to a lot of medical appointments and tending to family issues that I ignored since I was glued to my laptop and chair.

I’m thinking of taking the entire year off. It’s a great time to be unemployed.

I helped my jerk former manager to join scientology. It's not a new job but makes me smile.

I left dell after seeing where the trends were headed. I also wanted to get out of the IT industry, so when a recruiter called me regarding a position in an industry I was interested in (and had worked in before coming to dellemc), I jumped on it. I took a 45% pay cut, but I'm working in an industry and in a career field I prefer, so it's a gain for me. A loss in one area, but a gain in another.

Got laid off earlier last year. Got contacted from recruiters, did two interviews, got two job offers . Making 30% more now.

Worked out well. Recruiter from another company contacted me, started about 1.5 months after the September layoff and Im making more than I was @ Dell. Still a little surprised I was dumped after 7 years of solid performance and accumulating awards and Inspire points from leaders though... out with the old or 30s, 40s, in with the 20 year olds.

I got laid off in September. Took a month off not thinking about applying for jobs. Kept interviewing until I got a job offer from this company and will start end of this month. The pay is 40% higher than my salary at Dell and plus it has great culture. I believe great things will happen. Keep your hopes up guys!

Those still employed should polish their as* and skill set. More people will be laid-off during this year. It may or may not be you, but someone will be hit.

Hi, I was laid off in September and lately haven’t had many interviews. To be truthful, I have some personal/family issues that I’m working on and trying to resolve first before taking on a new role. But I have been sending out my resume and it’s kind of been like the wild Wild West. Recruiters emailing me and trying to pressure me into quickly applying for contract roles and then ghosting me. Stuff like that.

It’s encouraging to hear that other folks who were laid off are seeing good results with their search, and of course other success stories. A friend of mine just recently landed an amazing role after being unemployed for 9 months - so I do believe things will work out!

Agreed about employees posting on here. Guys - start your own anonymous blog somewhere to discuss work life at Dell. It’s very offensive to take your rants on this site.

I was with EMC hen Dell for 12.5 years. Preemptively took another job a few months ago. I have came to the realization that I was in an abusive relationship. The first few weeks I could feel the stress leaving my body.

I left EMC five years ago just before the unfortunate merge with Dell. Doing fabulously. My total annual compensation is $200K. There is life after many years being in the stomach of such industrial behemoth as Dell or EMC!

Well, I got laid off in August so I have been proactively interviewing then I took 2 weeks off because it was so overwhelming. I remember putting in 200+ applications. So I needed to clear my mind out of it. Currently, I got to the final stages of the interview process and potentially a pre-offer will be made soon in Jan 2021. I'm praying to God that a miracle will happen soon. Hope all goes well with everyone out there. This year been challenging but your time will come and shine soon!

Happy New Year!
