Since we are in our mandatory vacation period, what do you think about the no fixed (read accrued) vacation days? If you actually get to use them, will it be better? What happens if they let you go?

Unlimited vacation days is the biggest crock of c-ap to exist. All it days is make you a cheaper lay off because Oracle does have have to pay out the accrued days when you leave. Not sure if you leave on own if you still get paid out those days. But it is a nice buffer to have in order to find new work.
Win win for Oracle. Everybody(specially the younger crowd) gets excite with this model. Its a golden handcuff and people end up taking less vacation days and there is no liability on company’s books. So if you leave dir whatever reasons you don't get a penny extra aa compared to fixed days model.
Never touch your accrued vacation. Cash it out when you leave.
There is usually an accrual cap, even in European worker's paradises. So under the old rules, it was "use it or lose it"

The "unlimited vacation days" things is spreading through Corporate America. Employers like it because there is no accrued vacation pay to disburse should you leave.
As to whether you will get grief or not, it will depend on your business unit and your manager.
Ah, the good old days. Work the shutdowns and holidays in exchange for make up days off. Never touch your accrued vacation. Cash it out when you leave. It’s not so much how you get your PTO. It’s whether or not you get grief and a ration of sh|t when you go to take it.
They accrue for me. I can fully understand why it makes you sad bout you need to stop hating the player and realise America is a dumpster fire. Your international colleagues get it a lot better.
