I came to Mattel because I needed to get a “better job” than I already had. What a mistake! If I had known the atmosphere was so toxic I would never have come here. When I compare the leadership and the atmosphere in general in this one and my previous company in the same industry - Mattel is incomparably worse. I should have informed myself better and learned from the mistakes of others. Maybe those who have been in this company longer can answer me - when did the situation get so bad?

RD has been, somewhat inexplicably, only constantly throughout Mattel's current period of malaise.
Got bad when RD came. Lots of management in positions they have to business in. Like copywriters in charge in packaging.
The BS years (2012 - 2015) also saw the return of RD in 2014.
The downward trend may have started earlier, but it really became obvious after Bob Eckhart's retirement. First with BS (RIP), then CS, and the rest.
Bob got Mattel through the lead recalls of 2007 and the stricter regulations that followed, and improved slumping sales. The rest of the so called leaders were solely in it for the money.
