Chevron merge with Exxon to form a new Chevron?

He thinks the combined company should be called Chevron.

A merger would allow them to rebalance that equation. They could quickly become more efficient, cutting administrative expenses ($11 billion for Exxon and $4 billion for Chevron) and reducing capital expenditures by about $10 billion.

XOM and CVX have very similar cultures, processes, and vendors/software used. However, not unless both of these fall out of Fortune 25, merger won't happen. Mega mergers won't be approved by gov't (too big to fail). IMO, never going to happen.

Upstream is what makes the corporation money, not downstream.

This discussion is premature. Before that happens ExxonMobil needs to recognize that its only value is the downstream business. XOM needs to set Mobil free to take full advantage of the prolonged commodity cost reduction and deliver share holder value...

Needs to happen now to accelerate the development of cleaner energies.

I wish it would happen. Maybe 10 years.

Exxon needs to be a lot more "woke" to merge with Chevron. And that's not gonna happen any time soon! LOL

Assets make sense but not our people.
Chevron will probably keep 50% of Exxon technical staff and let go of all admin and managers.

Nah - all will be nationalized for awhile, maybe during wartimes.
After wartime, Rosnefted to cronies.
Same as ever was, they say.

I believe it will happen when the oil industry gets really bad, and it will. Not sure who will merge with who, but there is no future.

For anyone who thinks CVX can cure XOM’s problems, go look at their board here.
Texaco, Gulf, Chevron, Exxon and Mobil would all rejoin. Monopoly on my I45 intersection.
This was discussed months ago and determined to be like one of Nostradamus’ many predictions that did not come true, which were most. If you predict enough and 5% happen, you are a genius?

It is easier to just get Michael Wirth over to help clean up the mess within..

The take is that oil for major transportation will be phased out slowly over the coming decades. The merger would allow profits to be maximized for the former xom side and take away competition to place these leaders in energy together to lead the next generation of energy.

Chevron is an Energy and Technology company.

EM has nothing new to offer Chevron.
A few leases here and there - Rosneft and Aramco can have those.

Again - Chevron is an Energy and Technology company.
Why destroy that?

What make up the admin expenses?

Chevron can pick it up and cut All the admin at Exxon.
Then to eliminate the hangers on
Demand relocation to California
Then 3 years later relocate again to Houston
That would make half of them drop like flies.

Why not streamline the XOM administrative expenses first? 50% of 11 billion is $5.5 billion in savings.

How nice would it be for xom to restructure to make the org lean. To rid of excess management tiers. Streamline it all. Would be nice to see departments merge and managers be let go to be honest. If we look at return on price of employee, many managers would not fit the bill. This is truth, not emotion. I e experienced to managers in my career who did not know the plant, who did. It have good people skills, and contributed nothing that created value. Truth. They approved a PSM item or etc, only after having things described in detail.

It’s is a possibility especially if we see oil continue to be weak which is the most likely occurrence. We are seeing upstream companies merge. We will see megas merge as well. Just give it time. Shell and Chevron on top.

Or exxon could just cut the bloated administration. A merger of exxon/chevron would be a disaster.

Or, stay with me, we could just drop Exxon, keep Mobil, and then shorten to mo–n! It’s gold Jerry. Gold!
