Thread regarding Cox Automotive layoffs

Do you remember any changes for the better?

They typically have rounds of layoffs multiple times a year depending on the business unit. They are notorious for trying new things that don’t work, throw at a wall see what sticks. Always developing new departments, creating new positions, shuffling people from team to team, changing pay plans, ...

The company is notorious for many more things, and this post I saw on another thread here ( +18zVlZLO ) made me think about whether they actually ever made any change for the better? The changes here are constant, but I haven’t experienced a change for the better in a long, long time.

ive been employed for cox auto for over 10 yrs and no positive changes have happened that help the employees directly. many changes made to help the company of course which I suppose indirectly helps employees sometimes. any big change results in more corporate overhead and less going to people doing the work. but thats how all big corporations work. the health care costs go up, never down, benefits removed, rarely added. at least benefits the majority can use. they did add coverage for people wanting gender re-assignment surgery, purely a PR move, knowing possibly 1 or 2 people may use that, but more common things people could use they dont add, only remove. changes always cut work force, and add work. or add technology and cut people. thats how this works. quite sad to see honestly. just a tip for anyone trying to retire from cox if you are one of the people with the pension plan (also taken away by the way) good luck. if you think that will be around in 10-20 years youre wrong. theyll get rid of it, maybe cash people out, or fire you before you can use it to full potential. watch out for yourself, and only yourself. sad way to have a career but thats how it goes in this world.
