Fairly new employee here and I came across this site by accident. Read some of the posts and it started to worry me. Does anyone think we will be okay going into the New Year? I’ve never experienced a layoff before and not sure what to expect if one occurs. Should I be worried because I’m probably one of those who have been here the shortest? More importantly, what kind of backup plan would I need just in case?

How is 2022 feeling?
Probably never even worked for Cox! Just wants to rattle some chains. mo–n.
You think with the sh– Cox has pulled the last few years there’s only one disgruntled employee, or ex employee? Lol. There’s thousands. This guy loves to think he’s some forensic writing analyst who can decode anonymous posts in threads lol. Dude pops up on every Cox thread blasting people acting like a detective unlocking the code lol. What a tool.
the only person i'm pretty sure is the same is the same guy who belittles someone on every post. for someone who doesn't pay attention to this website, and suggests only 1 person is posting the negative replies, he/she sure makes comments on a lot of threads belittling someone every time. Pretty much every thread on here, you can count on this guy/girl belittling and trying to talk down to people posting their poor experiences with cox. with how many peoples they furloughed, and laid off just in 2020 alone, I highly doubt its one person. many of these threads have 1000's of views. you think only 1-2 people posting? wrong.
First of all, the thread was started by an innocent question. I happen to know one of the repliers and it’s a female who is not low IQ! The response she got was not from her posing as someone else. There ARE people who have legitimate reasons for all that they’ve said through their posts. It’s called “venting”! This person is retired and not a disgruntled employee! Has loads of other, more insidious examples of management and how incompetent they are, but too long to list.
And please don’t belittle someone because they’re an hourly employee. Some of those have a handle on what’s really the way to conduct business to the customer’s advantage vs. some of the upper management who are clueless as to how to even converse with people!
The pot calling the kettle black. Post has
Over 900 views; surely they cannot all be by the " disgruntled employee". To disparage an hourly worker is unnecessary.
Don't go on here, the rambler has low IQ and it shows. He's the one always using CAPS randomly too. Some hourly dude with quotas... It's basically the low wage earner who doesn't have skills to move on to any other job.
You'll see a pattern where that incoherent rambler will post and then immediately a follow up would have a "yup", "exactly post below". No one else responds so fast except him. Go to reddit and find the better, logical thread for information for Cox... That disgruntled employee can't find it yet lol
Beware, it's the same disgruntled employee posting looooong paragraphs. No one really comments on here except the one or two people who complain about the same things using the same jargon. If you stay technologically capable and have a project-oriented mindset, you're fine.
pretty funny to look at Glassdoor, or indeed, if you look at a lot of the recent reviews, they definitely have a bunch of fake, paid for reviews to cover up all the bad reviews people have been leaving lately. you can tell, 5 star, or "pro" with a generic 1-2 line reviews or a "con" that really isnt a big deal or actual "con" in a review. Their fake reviews. paid for, or HR/ PR people doing them. The company knows people hate them.
Yup, as others have said, toxic, scary place to be. Management are professional liars, and politicians. There are a few warning signs to look out for. 1 the rumor mill runs wild before these cuts happen, based on usually real information, but its a game of telephone, and who you know will dictate how accurate your information is. You'll never be shot straight by management. 2, you'll notice things get really quiet from leadership, maybe team meetings cancelled, or your boss and bosses being in Atlanta more than usual (if youre not in HQ), don't know how to explain it, but its almost like the management gets information then they stop caring about anything until the blood bath is over. stuff that was important, no longer is. initiatives will get pushed off, information will become lighter. 3, watch for pay plan changes, or bonus changes or little odd things that dont make a lot of sense. example, 2020 merit changes pushed out until April/q2? some story about why they did it, but thats because they planned all these cuts in Q1, then covid happened. No matter what they say the cuts were happening no matter what, covid actually delayed it. another example when they eliminated LTIPs for a lot of people randomly. LTIPS are LONG TERM INCENTIVE PLAN, not a lot of people talk about it, but much of the leadership (used to be director and above) basically get free money for doing nothing. multiyear plan that pays out after a certain vesting period, some of these easily reach 6 figure pay outs, for doing nothing. Well recently not long before the cuts, they eliminated those for a lot of people. and depending on who and why you were let go they have to pay those out to a lot of people even if let go ! just simply have a title that is high enough. 4 there will be talk/rumors of restructure which is fancy word for people going away. or "new operating model" code for bye bye. Theres many other things you can watch for. This is a terrible place to work. Management is completely worthless, they dont help or train new hires, you get thrown out there to figure it out, mainly because managers dont have a clue either, and they dont care, because they know theres a big chance themselves or you will be gone soon anyway, so who cares. just be aware and always always looking out for yourself, and not the company. thats all you can do.
You are spot on, if you are a good worker , give the company 110% , doesn’t matter. Seems like they always keep the slackers and trouble makers. Who do you blame for that?? Positively, management. As someone else stated , they lie with a straight face and look right into your eyes when luring to you. Corporate they claim is pulling the strings, partially true. Corp tells them how many has to be cut and it gets to be a popularity contest, and not what kind of what kind worker you are , if your supervisor or manager don’t like you ? You will be let go on made up lies on paper to cover their assess. After 20 yrs , I always had good reviews , until the last months I worked there. I had some medical issues they canned me end of Oct 2019, I had to sign these papers stating that I wanted to retire Jan 1, 2020. They neglected to tell me after paying on a life ins policy, as soon as it reached Jan 2020 , me and my hubby had no life ins and unfortunately for me my husband passed away., if they didn’t force me to retire I would have received a check for $150,000 instead I had to pay the undertaker a total of $10, 200 all because I was forced out for my medical issues a mere short of getting a check for the $150,000, that would of helped pay off allot of my debt . Not only was I mourning the loss of my husband of 48 1/2 yrs then I had to deal with money issues. They tell you how they value their employees, DON’Zt believe it, they could care less about you. Do you really want to work for a co who lies to you, Very, Very poor management, ??? If you are thinking about taking a job there think twice or more or if you started there, RUN as fast as you can and get out of there. End of my opinion and story
Amen. Boy, you said it ALL! Whoever you are, you sure know it! Every single thing you said is spot on. Work your a– to the bone and truly give a sh*t and get kicked to the curb for doing it. Nice.
run far away from this company or be prepared at anytime you could be gone. worst company culture ever. not a matter of if you get laid off or part of restructure, matter of when. horrible people pulling the strings at cox. dont trust any sr director or above, theyre all politicians.
They typically have rounds of layoffs multiple times a year depending on the business unit. usually when you least expect it. They are notorious for trying new things that don't work, throw at a wall see what sticks. Always developing new departments, creating new positions, shuffling people from team to team, changing pay plans, leadership is all about politics, its rarely performance based. In the last year ive seen top notch people and performers get tossed to the side for no reason. as well as poor performers. You could be a great performer and if for some reason they dont want you around they can change your goal, move you to different team or boss. They can basically make you look as good or as bad as they want. Many people do nothing and soak up the money for as long as they can until their day has come. Typically there is no rhyme or reason to the madness (that'll you'll be aware of). it all depends where you fall when the axe starts swinging. unfortunately you'll rarely know anything is coming until its too late. they love to get you feeling like they care with the phony cox family BS. If a layoff occurs? the only thing to expect is to be going to work one day, and be unemployed the next, you wont see it coming. They do that on purpose. Your boss will lie right to your face and give you zero inclination youre going away. You'll get a good review, you'll get bonus, you'll be told youre doing a great job, then next day "sorry you've been impacted" "its very difficult for us, but business needs have changed", "your role has been eliminated, but of course youre encouraged to apply for a new open role" (except those roles are already filled and they would have placed you in one if they wanted to keep you). If you've been there long enough you might get a package, but even their packages are much much less than they used to be. Back up plan? Back up plan is to keep resume updated, always be looking for open roles with in other companies, always, do not at any point be loyal to this company. because they will not be loyal to you, even if you think they are, they arent. trust me. Save as much money as you can, and basically know your time will come. Could be a year, could be 10. But rarely will it turn out the way you hope it does. Its the most toxic place ive ever had the pleasure of working for. ive been fortunate to not be impacted, yet, but im naive to think I wont be. thats why I treat cox as my part time second job I dont care about while building my own business on the side. using this job for the benefits and free money while I take charge of my own career. good luck....
