Thread regarding Synovus Financial Corp. layoffs

Is it just rumors?

I've been hearing about layoffs again which at first I thought to be ridiculous since we just had one not even a couple weeks ago. Then I came on this board to see what is circulating and see another post stating the same thing about layoffs and furloughs dated 11/18. Should I be worried? Is there an inkling of truth to these rumors?

In production, there was an engineer that covered majority of support from a project perspective as well as production triage. He wasn't even Sr but everyone knew how busy he was, Let alone the most talented in the pod. I felt sorry for him but after he left Synovus put out a req for 2 engineers to cover the work he was doing.

That being said it rings an awful tone about management and how they allowed one engineer to do everything when there is a whole team!

Layoffs, Acquisition, or whatever the flavor of the month is on here. Synovus will and can replace us and for talent that accepts less pay than we do.

Think about that and let it sink in. We are all expendable!

40% reduction?? Do you know the criteria behind who in that 40%? Length of service? Salary amount?

Yes, it’s true. More cuts coming, and will not stop. The organization is leaning out, and will continue to do so until 40% reduction in IT FTE. It’s a numbers game, with real life expendable pieces. HR has new leadership, and the endgame is near.

Friend in IT got terminated a couple weeks ago with no notice. She was with the company 30+ years, and was previously offered (in 10/20) the early retirement package, but chose not to take it.
