Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

How’s that working out for you?

Why does UHG believe that laying off experienced employees time and again is the be all end all answer to the multitude of problems that are within our company? Think about this. Has this ever worked in the past? The fact that there have been no improvements (except short term) is proof enough that RIFs are NOT the answer and that the ELT needs another solution.

ptum360 - It's too bad they hire executives who just care about the bonus they will receive if they make the numbers that are expected. Because of this they tend to eliminate needed, talented, experienced employees. Then the lack of experience and lack of staff leaves the rest of them frustrated and frankly depressed/overwhelmed and over worked. They let go every year in Q4 because they are trying to play the meet or beat the forecast. This year 2020 they did it in Q2 because they realized that COVID19 very hard to predict, loss in sales and the ability to bring on new clients. Providers (doctors) would not be able to perform normally and therefore claims would decline. CEO salary was $1.4 million in 2019, up from $1.3 million a year prior. Including stock awards and bonuses, 2019 compensation totaled $18.9 million in 2019, up from $18.1 million a year before.Apr 21, 2020.

As long as the bottom line meets or beats expectations and the stock price stays in good shape they will not care. The orders go down the chain to find cost savings. Rank employees and get rid of who you can. Those left are expected to do more or less with the same quality but it usually doesn't work out that way.

The leadership will be gone before the impacts are felt. It’s the next minion from target’s job to figure it out

We are seeing the impact of the cuts. Work is not being done. Work is not well done. Folks are not talking to each other. If you request info, no one is saying anything since they do not want to be blamed.

It is really bad. Senior VP only order tasks and will not talk to their employees. I requested a 1 on 1 and was denied to discuss problems in the company due to staff turnover.

It is really bad in my area. Everyone hates the company but the company pretends we love them.

I know they are going to get rid of me. They trying to get me to quit, but I will not quit. They have to lay me off first. And I am not the only one either.

Of course, any time I want to leave the easy way is to go down and talk to HR. I be the first on the layoff list.

It’s not better, it’s cheaper that’s all they care about now.
