Reporting COVID to MOH?

So.. I have a dilemma. Last weekend I went out with some friends, didn't even think about it again until Tuesday night when my throat was a little sore. Wednesday I didn't feel any better so I got a COVID test after work. Yep, positive. We had a ton of reviews to get through before all the managers take next week off and I felt good on Thursday so I went in Thursday and Friday, I was on Campus all week actually. I had several in person meetings, though they were social distanced (mostly). Well now I have been really sick all weekend, I really don't want to go in tomorrow but I'm almost out of vacation days and our manager expects us in the office. I don't want to report because I've heard it's a total witch hunt fiasco. Any good advice? Thank you :)

Not to worry, the safety protocols that MOH imposes ensure we totally safe.
Also they’re is totally no pressure from management to be on campus, they totally trust us to make our own decisions.
Finally, MOH will make sure they count the potentially contagious days so that no contact tracing was needed, and as fast as possible return to work is guaranteed. After all, there hasn’t been confirmed cases contracted on campus.
Their Covid protocol totally works; none can tell for sure where they got the virus and none has to wear masks in their desks on the workrooms.
It’s all about guarding against liability - not our health and well-being.

What OP did is inexcusable.
But I suspect there are other people with symptoms coming to the office. It’s driven by the fear of getting cut if they don’t have enough face time.
Toxic XOM management style is one of the key reasons driving this behavior. Management values face time over actual results. My supervisor even told me to maximize face time by walking around so managers can see you are physically in the office.

I know of cases where people came to the office sick because of the pressure to have in-person meetings. They later had to be sent home because they were too sick to make it through the day. So, this is sadly probably not that unrealistic. It is happening all over campus. People likely don’t go and get tested so they can say they didn’t know they had COVID.

What a twisted world we live in to place so much value on a dollar over human life.

Other people may have it now. They need to take safety precautions and should be aware to try and prevent the spread. Why am I even shocked that someone would ask this?

Seriously? Your going to just spread it around and possibly k–l people? You will probably be a target but better than having death on your hands. Is your paycheck worth that much to you?

I’ll just keep quiet about it.. and go closer to those you deem as a threat in the next Performance Assessment

Full truth so it leads to full traceability of those you may have contacted.

If other people kept such infections secret then Campus could become superspreader central.

I’d sum up your handling of this so far as follows:

Failure. When your best just isn’t good enough.

I’d strongly recommend you give truthful dates and account of what happened.

MOH will ask for date of test result and onset of symptoms. Lieing would be cause for dismissal.

You need to be honest about dates as MOH will contract trace based on date of test and onset of symptoms. If you continue to lie your coworkers and their families will be at risk because you lack integrity.

The more you try to hide your lies the harder it becomes and worse it is when the lie is exposed as always happens. You made your bed time to lie in it. Man up and tell the whole story. Your coworkers who you have exposed deserve to know before they go home for Thanksgiving and k–l their parents and grandparents because you are too selfish and scared to admit what you did.

I would say you have a positive test result (not saying the date of the test result) and list all close contacts during that week on campus.

Whether you went to work positive or not is not as important of a detail as you absolutely need to help with contact tracing so others can adjust their plans to avoid potentially infecting others especially with thanksgiving upcoming.

I know you made a very big mistake but please don’t make the mistake even bigger. I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you were so stressed about work that you were not thinking clearly and were probably in disbelief but we can’t undo any of that c-ap but you have the chance to do your best going forward.

Good luck op and hope you feel better soon and hopefully the scenario plays out to be ok. Please do take the time to think about this situation and think through why you did what you did and what you need to improve on as a person to avoid making bad choices in the future. Again, you can only do your best going forward and I hope it works out.

What an id–t. Man up you snowflake. You were afraid to share a positive test so just went about your day infecting everyone at work. A–hole.

I misread, you went out on the weekend. I was wrong about that. But you’re still an id–t. Continue.

More likely you will be fired for your behavior after knowing you were positive than anything else. Many people in my team have reported their positive test or exposure to confirmed cas e with zero repercussions. I’d be advocating for harsh response in your case not due to positive test but for blatant disregard for the health of your coworkers.

So, let me get this right. You went out on Tuesday, a high risk activity. You weren’t feeling well on Wednesday and got a test after work. Why wasn’t that your indication that you need to work remotely for the rest of the week? Why would you take a Covid test and go to work while you await the results, especially while symptomatic, you are a f—ing dumb–s and I don’t mean that lately. You have put many peoples lives at risk with your nonsense. The very least you could do is notify management so people don’t go infect their families, especially during the holidays. Then you should sit down and read a f—ing book because you obviously are an id–t.

This situation is the result of very poor management. Intimidate the employees into being afraid of reporting illness, because management may use it as an excuse to fire them. Great job.

There is a difference between being sick and vacation. Your test came back positive. Tell that to your supervisor so it can be logged and contact tracing can be done. This has nothing to do with a witch hunt.

Be a responsible human being and report it. You need to quarantine and help stop the spread please.

Obvious advice is you are a mo–n for not going into quarantine once you tested positive. People like you are the reason cases keep rising. Freaking id–t

Its actually extremely unethical to come into the office when you know you are sick. Especially considering that some of the folks that work on campus are extra vulnerable for different reasons.
