Health Net / Centene vaccine mandated layoffs. Has anyone heard of any additional layoffs in the Claims department for Woodland Hills or Rancho Cordova California? Are they hiring or laying off?

Well more people are going to quit or get fired come Sept since they have decided to force employees to get the vaccine or get the boot ..that's pretty much what employees were told yesterday. Your job is contingent on the vaccine is what was said they did not give employees the option to really Express how we felt about it they didn't want to hear any concerns they shut us up and closed out the meeting

Considering they just lost over $500million in Q2 for 2021, I'd say hold onto your hats, it's going to be a bumpy ride for the rest of the year. Whether they do or don't actually close on the Magellan purchase, I'd say additional layoff predictions are spot on.

Several people have resigned from our department and left for other opportunities, and their positions are not getting backfilled. Meanwhile, our dwindling team is left with the double workload and no straight answers from leadership. The writing is definitely on the wall.

Centene keeps buying companies outside of health plans that fill gaps in services, such as Apixio (AI/machine learning for data analytics, which will cut down on admin costs) and Pantherx in specialty meds. They will operate as semi-independent units.

Thinking like an investor....the company is projecting that health plans will be breakeven at best in the future and that the real profit is in these other businesses with services which can be sold to third parties. Why invest in the health plans? None of them are branded as Centene. Cut them to bare bones to satisfy the Feds and states. Don't invest in those people when the company is buying bright shiny businesses and operating them separately.

Again, Centene has a 75 year old CEO in place for 25 years and no real succession plan. This company may be radically reorganized away from a health plan holding company.

If you are in Centene's traditional health plan businesses, beware.

Look for further layoffs, staff stripping, outsourcing, and 80 hour weeks until profits are up next year. That is the stage setting for a sale of Centene, if not all, in parts.

I heard that there is a hiring freeze in place now and more cuts across the company are coming.

I'd say read the posts and responses from the last 4 months and form your own conclusion.
