Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

I hope all SMs read this

Your job is to assure the location you are responsible for is run as smoothly as possible. One of those responsibilities is to assure that you have enough staff on hand for every shift. I realize that coworkers call in sick and you have to find a replacement. However, it is your responsibility to work that shift if no one can be found. You DO NOT try to make your employee feel guilty for making plans that CANNOT be cancelled! Rant over.

She wanted to have a baby. I feel bad for how the child is going to be raised TBH. I assume she is still in the state somewhere, in the ultra-snobby (annoying) part of town.

I once had a BN SM that was micromanaging everyone so bad. Everyone hated her. Her catch phrase was "books and coffee", like we heard that a million times a day to sell more of it. Yeah sure, even 3 years ago people were not buying much of anything at that point. She decided to stand 3 feet behind me for about an hour, watching every move I made. Of course she did not last long. That seems to be the trend, that SM's don't last long. Down with BN, Daunt, Riggio.

I know the TN Mgrs would never work another’s shift. They act like it’s beneath them.

That’s what they’re paid for as managers. Some think they’re paid to work as little as possible.

This is why B&N's company reviews are so bad. I've worked for a lot of companies but never have I seen a place where the employees, especially lower management, has been threatened and treated so badly.
