Was anyone else told they have to work mandatory overtime? We were told this week.

It is an unspoken expectation at the DOC. My unspoken, they don't come out right and say it.....just heavily hinted by the way an expectation to hit your daily point totals.
F-you all that worked 10 hours a day to get all of those high daily point totals in the past. You id–ts made this happen and set the expectation.
To the last post. The pandemic is not ending in the coming months, the covid recovery will be well into 2021 and beyond. More time for corporate America to transform and take advantage of the working class.
The pandemic is ending in the coming months. That means our options will be wide open.
With so many losing their jobs , they would gladly take your OT. Know when you're lucky and count your blessings.

And that is why Allstate has closed all their claims offices in CA over the last few years....now they have more to close with the addition of Esurance and Nat Gen.
Use an excuse that has religious reasons and you can get out of unpaid overtime and working beyond normal business hours that would interfere with your time for worship. Do not think they would try and take that on in court.
I work in Rapid Response and we have had multiple weeks of mandatory OT and voluntary OT recently. We are non-exempt, basically working in a call center.
FLSA"Federal Labor Standards Act" from website, it appears there are administrative exemptions that keep exempt employees from O.T. pay. But under $35568 per year salary exempt employee may be eligible. Someone out there with a legal mind vs my auto damage adjuster background may be able to decipher the legal jargon. There was a time years back the outside auto and other exempt employees had to keep a time card, we were eligible for overtime. Short lived though, the corporate fat cats and lobbyist had Congress rewrite the laws. Did not work in CA they are in a world of their own when it comes to employee rights.
22i23 Insurance claims adjusters.
(a) Insurance claims adjusters generally meet the duties requirements for the administrative exemption, whether they work for an insurance company or other type of company, if their duties include activities such as interviewing insureds, witnesses, and physicians; inspecting property damage; reviewing factual information to prepare damage estimates; evaluating and making recommendations regarding coverage of claims; determining liability and total value of a claim; negotiating settlements; and making recommendations regarding litigation.
Claims adjusters who perform their duties under close supervision or in consultation with supervisors and who have no, or limited authority, to make independent choices do not meet the third criteria of the administrative exemption. See FOH 22i00.

Are you hourly or salary? Are they paying you time and a half?
Please refrain from using buzz words like “Mandatory OT”. That’s so 90’s. Nowadays all the cool kids call it “Transformative Growth”.
Now go transform yourself and be happy you have the opportunity to do so!
