Rather than ask him to leave, TELL HIM! Perhaps he doesn't understand American English.

MF isn’t that smart and isn’t a great reservoir engineer. And by the way, he already left once but like a bad penny, he came back.
I would say MF has a lot of empathy. I mean he could have just left and let COP crash and burn.
MF is the perfect example of what it takes to succeed here: the right accent and great presentation skills. He was an amazing reservoir engineer but can’t think strategically because he’s sees the pine needles, not the forest. Because he’s so smart, he can’t lead, he just micromanages. And yes, he smart enough to box himself into a three year severance package like his ELT predecessors.
In retirement, what will he do? Who will hourly tell him how amazing he is and laugh at his stupid jokes?

But have you factored in the time it takes to load the calendar into Teradata then build a calendar report in Spotfire before figuring out that it will not work on iOS?
