Get you that extra unemployment benefit for COVID that most states have. There is a Wall Street Journal article and other articles quoting TW stating these 3800 layoffs were COVID related. Have copies of these articles to provide to your state unemployment office in case Allstate tries to do you dirty as they likely will and they try to dispute it as Allstate is on the hook for part of the extra COVID unemployment benefits since they took stimulus money from the government in exchange for not releasing employees due to COVID.

Illinois is a state that allows both as severance is not considered income.
In the state of OR you can collect unemployment and your severence. They don't look at it as you still have a job. You were let go. Your now unemployed so you can collect both. They said what the company decides to pay you when you leave has no bearing on qualification of benefits. You absolutely 💯 can get your severence and unemployment.
Do a quick google search for severance+unemployment+your state. Each state handles it differently. My state is basically “Hmm, file anyway and we’ll let you know”.
Depends on state and whether it is paid in installments or lump Doestate allows unemployment if severance paid in lump sum.
I was under the impression that you could not receive your severance pay AND claim unemployment?
