In September of 2018 the enterprise storage giant said it had 7000 employees. In January 2020 the company merged with Hitachi Consulting, which had 6500 employees in 2015 (the most recent year we found figures for). This company has been top heavy and has seen profits from HV virtually evaporate after the merger with Hitachi Consulting. Now this week they will take drastic measures to shed the overhead.

The word lay-off is so politically incorrect. Restructuring is the cute word they want you to use. Either way, your out of a job.
I dont think its a huge lay-off. More like individual group or department asked to cut a certain %. The group that can BS or have majority of the favorite employees or buddies, naturally will be spared from any cut.
I don't get it. Especially nothing in EMEA i think ??
that's just it, I Don't believe its a "huge" lay off and hasn't made it into any storage magazines or news articles yet unless it's happening all week long.
If they're really cutting a huge swathe of employees, worldwide, they have to announce it somewhere. There's nothing internally or externally that I've seen. At least not yet :(
Town Hall message: "We did this as part of the ongoing transformation to put us in an even better market position, making ourselves more competitive during challenging and unprecedented times. We are confident that our actions result in better aligned and targeted portfolios .... "
No. The town hall meeting will be part of the physiology to make everyone feel good that they were chosen ones to lead this company in a new direction. It’s all BS because they don’t have a clue as to any direction. The funeral march has begun for HV.
The first part of that is a quote from February's post at: https://blocksandfiles.com/2020/02/27/hitachi-vantara-layoffs
Where's the rest from?
So far, this site has seen people quote 60-80% of the "digital organization"; 95% of staff in Asia; 40% of staff in Europe; 500+ worldwide but mainly in the US.
Unsurprisingly, no-one seems to know what's really going on, and there's a distinct lack of communication to go with the rumours - are they really going to just announce huge job losses in a Town Hall, tomorrow?
