I got laid from Hitachiconsulting because upper management made poor decisions... HICHAM f—ed many people. I was there over ten years and 6 weeks severance... I worked with a great crew....

FYI- Don't as HR, their leader is the one making these despicable severance decisions, supported by Hitachi America & Japan.
I think you have a good case of discrimination since they are giving others the standard two weeks per year severance.
HR will ask you to sign some paperwork that (1) prevent you to sue the company (2) not to be re-hire in the next 3-5 years (I heard someone told me they had one of this, but not sure if its across the borad or for individual)
Don’t sign anything yet until you consult HR. If they don’t do the right thing than hire a labor attorney and sue the $hit out of them.
Ridiculous only giving 6 weeks. WTH. Company is doomed to fail.
6 weeks of severance for 10 years of service?! That’s an outrage. You need to raise a stink with HR. Standard is about two weeks of severance for every year. Good luck! I know this s—s.

When the top guy outline for a cut "requirement" ... the next management chain dude asks his/her direct report for a "cut" recommendation.. well, the manager then ask the direct report "manager" for a list of people to cut. In the end, the employee that does the job (or not doing any work) gets Axe! The manager has to protect his own job too.
You should have gotten 20 weeks of severance pay and two months of garden pay. Those m0ther f¥ckers.
