I worked at "legacy Centene" and was lucky enough to have gotten away before I was affected by this later round of layoffs. And it's so sad to learn what has befallen my former colleagues. It's such a sad state of affairs. Layoffs are a part of business but they should make sense. Right? When I learned of the talented people who were getting the shiv, I couldn't believe it. And when I learned who was staying my jaw dropped. Huh? What? WHO?! Why?! It's laughable. Absolute incredulous laughter. This company clearly does not value talent. And since most layoffs are the result of reducing cost, I can only assume they are keeping the least costly individuals. That is the only logical reason for the silly decisions that have been made. There are certainly better ways to obtain cheap labor. But just know that companies choosing cost over talent will always sacrifice quality.
And to my deserving colleagues who are staying (deserving as in they have the knowledge and the know-how to do the job so it makes sense that they were selected to stay) please just watch your back.
